  1. Got my GROM bluetooth receiver as a Birthday present to myself and installed it today in the E39. Similar to @BozzaFCand @adro Install was pretty sweet. getting the tape player back in was a proper mission thanks to the fat loom and additional new wires, got there in the end and now have full bluetooth and no CD changer. Have put the hands free mic on hold for now until can be arsed running it behind the drivers side dash panel etc. Next, BAVSOUND speaker install. Direct fit goodness. Had these in my e46 and they were great.
  2. Had an oil pan gasket replaced today at Coombes, now the E39 will stop dripping vital life juices all over the garage. While the car was there i had them check all suspension tensions, fittings and alignment - the car have been 5mm up on spec and 5mm down on spec height right t left. So while each corner was technically "in spec" the car as a whole looked on the piss. After some adjusting and proper tensioning the car is now much more even, only being 5mm out from L to R. Main difference here being worn spring pads in front and rear right hand side and a slightly odd shaped strut top mount front right . So the pads are next on the list along with some new rear control arms to silence a donk donk i'm hearing with the rear seats out (while i still complete my child harness project) This good to still have it in bits however as any rear strut access must be done from underneath the parcel shelf -
  3. Todays mission, paint faded rear deck and install child seat top anchors. Now wait a week for the paint stench to disappear before full reassembly. Keen for that meet up Stu. ?

Hi Christian, where did you score these from, wreckers, online? I now have an E39 and am wanting a set
  6. Aaaaand they are gone. Looks, smells and feels way better, feels like I'm in the seats now, not on them.
  7. Will be starting the coloring process this weekend. Yup, keen for meet up ??
  8. Removed back seat, upper and lower sections C pillar covers, parcel shelf to install child seat tether points. Actual hardware is still coming in from Germany. And whilst I wait for that new speakers and tints will be going in plus a restoration of the faded rear shelf.

Good stuff @adro how have you found the quality of the microphone? Got one of these in a cart with GROM currently too. All my pixels work , deffo in a minority there @Eagle my HVAC buttons were also popping out, mostly aircon and temp adjusters. i scored a busted HVAC unit from a wrecker with great condition buttons, and swapped them over for the princely sum of 20 $ lol
  11. yeah did that, took me a while to find a decent one - see what you mean now. found this https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-strut-and-shock-kit-e39-31312229613kt I will also be going standard equipment, did the firmer, lower thing in the E46 @adrodid you end up importing yours? local prices seem quite steep?
  12. I do have the build sheet for my car, so shows the mtechII but not the associated code for it...where do you decode yours?
  13. Hi @adro Did you end up ordering any shocks / kits from overseas? I'm going to be in need of a front shock set up (right hand) and possibly spring, looking at fcp, they can do the front end kit to suit M Sport suspension for close to the price of one side, based on what i was quoted today https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-shock-absorber-kit-rear-170857kt Keen to know what / if you went for anything Cheers
  14. Sorry, do you mean works with the high cluster?
  15. New nostrils for the 530 and scored a broken HVAC unit to pillage all the buttons off the have a stock pile and replace some currently busted ones in the car. With some gentle pressure these guys pop right out in tact so replacing the current problem ones will be easy.
  16. Yeah I have high cluster and didnt realize there was a "low" cluster type. 2 weeks in to 5 series ownership and learning about all subtle the differences lol. Still keen to hear how the android unit install goes. Cheers
  17. horses or courses i think @Eagle the unit you've linked there is very similar nearly identical to the Eonon unit I've been looking at. Which is nice for an android set up but would require me to loose the MID Radio with OBC functions as mentioned above. I cannot see anywhere in the functionality of either Android unit where this OEM OBC functionality is retained? I see from your other post about you awesome looking manual conversion, that your dash is similar config to mine, so keen to know how you go with this swap. My current thinking is addition of Bluetooth functionality (as most of my music resides on my Phone), aftermarket amp to beef up the output to to some new speakers, whilst keeping the dash and OBC as factory as possible.
  18. Awesome man thanks for that. Yeah I have no nav, no dsp. A tape player and mid radio in the dash and a 6 CD stacker in the boot. Did You tuck the Grom behind the dash /radio? Dont mind losing CD changer as phone has 32gigs of music on it vs 6cds so it's a win for listening options whilst driving. And this option let's me spend more on speakers ?
  19. WTB E46 / E39 cloth sport seat material for refurbishment if my own seats. Specifically to repair the usual wear spots on the drivers side outer upper and lower seat bolsters. Happy to buy whole seats and strip them if required.
  20. Hi BozzaFC Did you get any further with this investigation / install? I'm keen to also add BT, USB etc but also retain the factory MID radio so i don't lose the OBC features and i don't want to massacre the dash. Some of the Eonon Android units looks ok but you do lose the OBC features....

    2000 E39..

if you're on FB, i spied this listing the other day https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/805772959804127/
  22. Cheers mate. It was a bit of a hidden gem so as I say, had to snap it up. The wheels will need some TLC at some stage. But they are very nice factory option.
  23. I did lol. Viewed a few in rapid succession but nothing that fit what I was looking for in terms of condition. then after a post on BMW club nz fb page a local enthusiast here in Hamilton mentioned he had a 530i, 2001. Owed It since 60000kms it's now done 150000kms, full service history and very well looked after. Took it for a drive it was awesome the 3 liter is so nice. While it wasnt the 2003 I was after it was such a nice example with everything else I wanted, plus room for some of my own tasteful mods, I had to snap it up.
