  5. Cheers mate, yeah market is a bit dry. that wagon is very nice just not sure i want a wagon...always been a sedan man incidentally (as a veteran;))do you know if a 2003 steering wheel can be fitted to an earlier model E39 ?
  6. Bump - getting a few hits and offers on FB, some aretoo much work and not in good shape. Any good examples out there? ive see the one Mikan has for sale not sure i want a wagon, in black.
  7. Looking buy - tidy, factory spec e39 sedan, 2003 production year and M Sport is a must. I passed on one a year or so ago and I regret it..With the family now bigger it's time to re look at moving on from the e46. Pic of the one I let go , was a beautiful individual grey, anyone know where this ended up?
  8. Cheers, just back seat and boot. I feel you on the baby seats, fiddly damn things.
  9. Any pics of the Interior? Hows aircon and any interior rattles?
  10. Carried a bit more than pictured, but you get the idea. Good cruise to Tokaanu, though National park, Ohakune then Hamilton. Over 2 days.
  11. Purchased a roof basket for my Family road trip this weekend. It looks pretty long next to the car, at 1.6M, but should hold all the extras nicely.
  12. Found a dirty great about 3 inches long gouge on the face of one of my wheels. Looks like something has hit it. Almost straight out from the lug nut hole. I am very mindful about curbing them so I know it's not that and they have a concave. Frustrating to say the least. Weirder yet was the area around the mark was distant free, yet the wheels are very distu so stood out like the dogs proverbials. Wheel magician time me thinks.
  13. Replaced my long broken and held in with double sided tape kidney grills on the e46 with matte black grilles. Looks pretty slick as an alternative to the chrome look she came with.
  14. Repaired all of the above issues this weekend Thanks to @BM WORLD for the center vent. Discovered upon fully replacing the instrument bracket that at some point, someone had cut the middle out of it to more easily (rather that Properly) fir wiring harness back there for aftermarket HU. Probably when it first came into the country.... which made the bracket much less solid than the complete one, good to have that sorted too. Every this is all back together noe with added low VOC tape strategically placed to minimize rattles and squeaks. next is take for a drive to enusre no major rattles in dash etc before putting last pieces of trim in place
  15. How much for a pristine example of an air vent please, Brent?
  16. True that. I do have a recent after market HU, I took the car back to the installer yesterday and they had a look. They confirmed that the bits that are busted they dont touch when installing. So I'm nine the wiser as to who and when, but have just now managed to get a full center dash bracket out of a local parts car for 20 bucks. Getting a decent 2nd hand air vent might be a bit more of a challenge. Seems any part that has people contact is marked or marred in some fashion.
  17. Cheers man, I'm looking at some bits tonight here - will update
  18. I'm in the market for a center aircon vent and upper instrument panel bracket, Part 2 https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=AN16-EUR-09-2001-E46-BMW-320i&diagId=51_3233 if anyone is wrecking....
  19. removed dash trim to inspect rattles discover all screw points are cracked or completely broken (these are the rattles) in the cd player, central aircon vent and other fixing points behind the trim / fascia. Anyone else experienced this type of bracket mass malfunction? possibly age? Needless to say, I am now in the market for a center vent and upper instrument panel bracket, if anyone is wrecking....
  20. What does a conversion like this cost? @BM WORLD imagine there is a quite a bit to change over in a 318i / 320i to handle the M engine.
  21. E46 washed and waxed on weekend, looking pretty, nice and shiny. Cat jumps on it tonight and slides off putting scratches don the front guard, little prick!? Thankfully i've got plans to get the car to auto Niche here in hams in the new years for a full paint correction.
  22. suspension malarkey month for me; each winter for the past 3 winters the car had been making an intermittent groan when turning the wheel at either low speed or stationary. this year it became more persistent, and after much investigation and checking of bushings control arms etc, it was found that the H&R front springs i had, had sagged / compressed past the point of being useful and the car was effectively sitting on the bumps stops (although compression under driving didn't provide any noise the bumps were under constant stress) and that is what the groaning was. This was disappointing as i loved the set up and "stance" of the car and the springs weren't that old, 5 years, and cost a bit. So i agreed with the local suspension shop to swap my OG M Sport springs back in, this worked but the rears were on the piss with different heights from left to right (see post in suspension section) this would not do - front were great and car felt much better when turning. ( i also noted that the shop and put a huge gouge in one of my wheels when it was with them - grrr they did agree to put it right and have since done so ) That was all 2 weeks ago, so this week we swapped the H&R rears back in, the car is now level left to right and has a slight rake front to rear as factory. the spring rates although different springs front to rear are very complimentary and the car driving feel is better than it's felt in a long time. So now all sorted, no odd noises, no crooked looks, no bung mags. Now she just needs a solid clean one my garage project is done and she can be parked inside again
  23. E46 sedan arm rest wanted, black leather(?) arm rest top piece only preferred. the retaining "hoops" on mine have snapped, rest of part is fine. Cheers Ben
  24. Its approx 20 - 25 mm out. Little but noticeable once seen I cant unsee it. So frustrating.
