  1. ... Wasn't over 2k I'll say that. But in saying that I definitely overpaid, I was feeling generous, the guy was young and I was looking for a challenge. This fits the very definition of it lol Provided it doesn't detonate on me on the way home, and providing I dont have to weld cut section on that rust area I'm happy. She's definitely in bad Nick, but some silver lining, it you look real closely? Going to be a great thread anyway.
  2. ...... started having power hesitation on the way home, maybe fuel pump, dunno haha. Temperature is fine. Coolant level sensor kept coming on, scaring the crap out of me because I know the overflow tank is about to bust. The brake noise is nearly gone. I guess the wear sensors must be gone now ??? And Omg just saw the rotational tyres on the wrong way. In paeroa now at the inlaws hopefully I make it home, 70km to go. Living life on the edge boys!
  3. I picked up something that needed alot of work, to chip away at in my spare time. Miss the coupes so picked up a 2002 325ci. How to put it bluntly, she needs some work, o boy. But that's kind of what I was looking for because I want to unleash on the sanders and paint gun. Service history, or lack there of, o God. But not to worry only 350,000kms on the clock ? Found a receipt from 2004, some decent receipt's round 2014/2015. But other than that a void of nothing-ness. It recently was took in for a service, they paid $169 essentially to top up oil, and no one mentioned to the guy the fan needing replacing because it's missing a blade, and leaking expansion tank. Brake pad wear sensors are squeeling all round, yet odly it got a wof in jan 2020 which I find strange for vtnz standards. It's getting a full respray, so body work is going to commence soon, and I'll probably tear into engine servicing on it. Someone glued the expansion tank, which is leaking slowly. So hopefully I make it home to Tauranga from Auckland tomorrow ????
  4. @Matth5 but what if that spare car breaks down, or the trailer gets a flat tyre??!!
  5. @Jacko now you just need to include in the boot, full socket sets, impact drivers, axel stands, engine brace / or crane. Cam locking tools, bore dial guage, honing tools, Plasti guage etc. It's a good start
  6. i wasn't going to say anything, until someone else did ... but that was me for atleast 10,000km I atleast have a tyre pump in the boot now ? @M3AN What i find interesting, is the overwhelming number of people I hear mentioning about getting punctures on tyre review sites, all seem to be running Eagle f1's ....
  7. @M3AN i was thinking that, i may not have noticed it on 16" but maybe 18"s will get my attention maybe the people that vlog / youtube about ride comfort from RFT are the type of people to be less tollerant about road noise. I guess i'll find out soon!
  8. Car originally came with it on 16s, dunno if it was his decision or the mechanics decision ? I've been on conventional 225/40 non run flat, (potenzas) but always have a electronic tyre inflator but still doesn't remove my paranoia thus why I was wanting to go run flat. They are eagle f1 assymetric runflat 225/40/18. I just keep seeing alot of hyperbole about how horrible the ride quality is on run flats even high value tyres. Thanks for your feedback anyway. Think I'll make the change any way, im sure Bridgestone eagle f1s can't be that bad. Famous last words
  9. So, I'm thinking of putting a set of Eagle F1's 225/40/18s on my e91 BBS wheels. I keep seeing reviews of people saying runflats create a horrible rid quality, whether its road noise, or not handling bumps in the road. Are run flats really that bad / noticeable? Or is alot of this hyperbole. I've had hf805 challenger run flats on 16"s before, and can't say i noticed anything drastic. Wondering whether anyone else has had experiences between RFT and non run RFT.
  10. Actually, wondering if anyone has had after market installations been the cause of this. (Bought it like this) The reverse camera looks wired in a funky way to the transmission instead of brake lights I would have thought, and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't turn off when I'm moving forward. Is this standard wiring round the O2 sensors? Looks a tad botchy.
  11. No IBS I don't think. Ista said something about being ones equiped with nav or stop start. Anything in there to hint? Kms were 129,800 when it went flat, that centre console switch centre seems to be the closest possible one mileage wise. Or not really relevant? I have read in forums that those cig lighters can be a source of Parasitic drain, anyone had it happen?
  12. @Kiwi_BMW the person that owned it before me had it pretty well maintained, have a pretty pedantic service book as it was under mechanical warranty. But @120km the fluid and filter was changed but not the mechantronic/ bridge seals from what I can see. theres no slipping or kicking, it's really just once a month coming to a stop I'll get the odd kick from 2nd to 1st, which is why I was looking into it. drained a bit of the fluid out and it's a definitely a relatively clean, slightly darkened amber colour.
  13. Pretty sure my e91 has a Parasitic draw on the battery, just had the battery go flat over night after a long drive from tauranga to Auckland. Will ista+ have any information on a module that was staying on causing it? I've tried doing voltage draw down tests on the fuse box, but the problem is intermittent so it's hard to test for it. Any common culprits for e9x?
  14. @KwS how much fluid did you use re-filling? 5l? it's a 9.5l dry fill, but just wondering how much comes out doing the job Cheers Edit: Sorry just found it on my second read of that write up 7.5l
  15. @B.M.W Ltd yeah , strange the owner before me had the shop do the fluid and filter but not the seals under the mechatronics unit. I guess they weren't BMW specialist. So by all adaptions you mean transmission adaptions or transmission and the other ECU adaptions too in power train. Cheers
  16. Hey all, i'm looking at replacing these seals on my ZF6HP box in the near future as preventative maintenance, Shifts smooth, but every now and then I do get the old kick from 2nd to 1st pulling up to a stop (once a month maybe), looked through service history the transmission & filter has been serviced, but the seals definitely haven't been replaced. 137,000km on the clock My question was, after replacing the seals, do you have to do the following in ISTA+ - Reset transmission adaptions - Valvetronic limit positions? Wondering what the official procedure is on it Any advice appreciated, thanks heaps
  17. @Harper that's a sweet ride dude, I nearly bought an e46 m3 back in the days there were still a few on the market reasonably priced. Totally regretting not diving in. Got the 330ci instead
  18. @Jacko black is so good with cut and polish, but you nearly have to clean is every day. Sold my old black car because of this ? Here's as good as I could get the e91 bonnet What compound you using?
  19. De chrome time on the wagon. Did it on the car as I didnt want to remove and re adhere. Takes agggggges to mask all the surroundings tho
  20. This guy has a few restorations a nice watch
  21. Cut & Polished the bonnet, might eventually do the rest of the car ? Meguiars ultimate compound is the bomb
  22. didnt hear, see anything as i took it out slowly, even checked inside the intake manifold with a magnet and removed splash pan. is it possible different variations of the disa look like this? am i at risk driving it how it is? would i expect to hear a rattle (from the flap coming loose) if there's actually an issue
  23. So I took the DISA out today to inspect, the primary one. And I always remembered a metal pin in the top of images I saw of disa's. The flap is firm, no play. If there was a metal pin and it went through the valves surely I'd know right?
  24. A golden video for your love of the e39
  25. Maybe you are right with a failing bearing in one of power steering alternator ac, but maybe spinning under load re created the issue. Have you isolated the noise?
