The amber on black can look quite classic, not necessarily a bad thing! Smoked on black is a good thing but not the kind in the pic you posted IMO. They just look dirty and too 'gangsta'. Get clear indicators and smoke to about half that darkness on the front, and just the clear indicator portion on the rear, and it will look nice.

Maybe consider a debadge? Debadge with clear lights will look nice, smoked lights would look more aggressive. (I'm assuming when you say smoked it's the OEM Hella smoked tail lights)

Welcome David, Alpine White is a great colour and has potential, the car will look great after a clean up. First 'reverse modification' I would suggest is to remove the M5 badge Smoked or clear lights will work well on your colour.

Talk about it. Sometimes I get behind someone doing 90 in the fast lane, give a polite flash to pass, no response - do it again, nothing - signal right, nothing - high beam for longer - nothing. Some people are just so self-righteous and stubborn that they think they'll lane hog just to show they're 'right'... or if they're so oblivious to what's happening around them, they shouldn't be driving in the first place!

What if you stop and they come and try to break your windows to get to you? Some people are psychos. It might still be safer than being run off the road... but I think if I was in the middle of nowhere I'd keep driving and try to find a safe area where there are lots of people, or head straight for a police station.

IIRC it's $100+ for the M50, for valve cover and spark plug gaskets. Just give the dealer a call, quite an easy job, just need a torque wrench and gasket sealant.

Norm, I missed the fact that your car is an E90. Being such a new model my wrecker comment may not apply. If you do manage to find one at a wrecker they'll probably want a fair bit. It might still be cheaper than an upholsterer though. If you can wait, then in a few years you'll be able to get them for reasonable prices. If you do get an upholsterer to do it, might as well make it something special (but still mainstream), it could increase the resale value of your car if done right.

Are you looking to get custom trimming or just want a leather interior? If it's the latter I'd say going to a wrecker will be more economical.

Fortunately they aren't 5.9% or whatever it is now... they're raking it in already as it is!

Ron, if I were in your shoes and going for an aggressive but classy look I would consider OEM Hella smoked tails. I remember they did them for the E39 so did a search - here you go:

I used to have a set of tail lights with smoked indicator sections that I tinted with VHT Niteshade, and they flew through every WOF, they were never brought up as an issue. They weren't as dark as the ones in the picture though. At the end of the day it should come down to how much output and the colour they let through and not their appearance. But I'm sure some WOF inspectors will try to give you grief. P.S: I've seen some cars around Auckland with headlights with that level of tint, I don't know how they go through a WOF!

Full de-catted 328 exhaust system, so has M52 manifolds, resonators in place of cats, and 328 exhaust with ACS tip. I also have brand new gaskets. Would go well with the diffuser... and I got it for my M50B20 so it should work for your M50B25.
