300K + Club

Recommended Posts

Yeah not the 300kph + club. Not many of us would be members.

But the 300,000km's club. Just would like to see who else has a BMW that has made it to 300,000kms. Was it an easy trip. Or riddled with problems.

I am just about to hit 300K in the next day or so. Sitting on 299900 ish. Im not 100% sure if it is the original motor or not though. But the rest of the car is in pretty good nick. For her birthday I gave her some new shocks and a thrash around Taupo track.

Its a

1985 E30 325i Manual

Pretty stock

How many KM's have you done?

Yikes just did the maths on my 87 M325i

174255 miles = 280436 km

Go baby go!!! lol

In the 4 years Ive had my car Ive spent about $3.5G on oil services, mechanical parts, tires etc

Once she gets a wash she'll look like new.

Only thing I haven't looked at is the electrics. But it is no major really.

I hit the 300,000km mark a few months ago and there the odometer has stayed. The digital odometers on pre 89 e34's have an electrical glitch where they stop at 300,000km. I've known the cars history since 1992 and nothing major has been done. Good ole m20b25's. I think I'll replace the layshaft bearings in the next couple of weeks, theyre a bit noisy now. One of the others is at 289,000km still a way to go but still going strong on original engine as far as I know. OH I had to change the spark plugs and put this black stuff into the top of the motor and change this thing that screws onto the side of the motor and this black rubber band thing with teeth something to do with the things that go round and round on the front of the engine. And I heard that its bad to not put that stuff that explodes into the hole by the boot when the thing in front of the steering wheel goes below that line. Apparently a light comes on if you don't and the car will explode and you will die.

^ doesn't really surprise me, alot of cars will get to around that mileage and need a bit of work. Thats why I'd have no worries buying a car with 200000km, chances are alot of its been replaced anyway. for the same reasons I'd try avoid a car around the low-mid 100's mark.

Yeah - you are really getting your moneys worth!!!

I've seen plenty of Mercedes taxis in Germany over 600,000km, but not a privately owned one before. Great work!!

We had a 1985 323i That we traded at 330,000 kms. Seemed like it could still do plenty more
