I once got denied petrol at Botany Shell because I parked my car so it was facing away from the shop, they told me they thought I was going to do a runner. The guy had to come and do it for me and then another escorted me to the counter, all because my petrol flap was on the wrong side to face inwards!! Pathetic! Made me feel like a crim for 15mins! Even when you fill up, they want the money first (at least what a fill up would cost, and they give you change). I think it is the way that we will be going here, so get used to it. I always dress cleanly and always look respectable, they have no reason to think I will steal petrol. I drive either a company car clearly signwritten, or my VR-4 which has a personalised plate. I just looked at him with the stupidest blank look on my face, I couldn't believe it! then he asked " are you from auckland?"................. Nah just kidding Anyway Shell gets my vote on that basis alone. my_e36 43 Report post Posted June 5, 2008 Petrol stations in Hong Kong are full serviced. You are NOT allowed to fill your own car for some reason that I don't know. If you pay cash, you can just give it to the person filling the car up, so you can almost literally drive through. In NZ I use Shell because it's the closest to me (2x Shell stations within 1km of my home - WTF) and I have a Shell fuel card. Shell has the best service and at least someone will come trying/asking to help you 3 out of 5 times. Mobil and Caltax are tie for worst, Gull and BP are self-service at pump, but the shop service is ok. I sometimes use Gull for the bio-fuel. Back to topic, the Shell V-power here is different from overseas. In Hong Kong, they say the V-power there are of colour Blue and octane of 98+. I'd say the V-power here is just normal 95 with some unknown/secret additive. They said there is fuel-saving additive in Shell fuel last year, which I didn't realise any improvement, why would this time be any different? Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I've never yet had a station not turn on the pump for me as soon as I put the nozzle in the tank and pull the trigger. I can second that, every place in the States in pre-pay and the pumps are so slow.It took ages to fill our rental and you have to hold the thing constantly no lock thing like in nz. As soon as i pull in the pump is taken off pre-pay ready for me too fill. Also another time i had forgotten my credit card, the guy told me to just come back sometime during the day and pay. Also came out from paying one time and the forecourt attendant had washed all the windows on my car and had a cloth out wiping bird sh*t off the roof for me! Good service retains customers. Ferrari only take shell fuel as we have sponsored them since they started. there is a whole department that looks at oil products for ferrari and there cars. I currently have a cut in half rally skoda from last season in my reception. It stars in the new tv ad. as of sept you should see the new helix ad dirty on the outside clean on the inside campaign. jimbo01 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2008 My brother was running mobils race gas in his rally car for a season after being recommended it, when they pulled the engine apart at the end of the season it was f**ked, they went to mobile to get answers, not completely sure what the outcome was but they did pay up a bit. No more Mobil for our cars!! BP is just too expensive so Shell is my next best option with 500km/50L tank (95), sometimes further. I filled up with V Power this morning, i'm not sure if it was on special but it worked out cheaper then the 91 elsewhere. Will soon find out what its like. Bloody lucky if he got money out of them. Couldn't have put it better myself. One thing for sure is that the Ferrari race cars don't use normal road car fuel at any rate, don't they use like jet fuel? 100% octane? Motorsport NZ have been stuffing around with the rules and it may be that he wasn't allowed to run Avgas - it depends on the championship. Plus, Avgas is leaded (its over 100 octane IIRC), so not ok for cars with catalystic converters or oxy sensors. But it smells awesome, and is (comparatively) cheap.
