antil33t 90 Report post Posted August 21, 2009 can you take the needles off to paint them, or do you just have to mask the gauges?
Forrest 35 Report post Posted August 21, 2009 (edited) ^ A few posts up I answer the question. The needles slide of the pins that hold them on, they are only really thin flexible metal. I then painted them and then slided them back on. Edited August 21, 2009 by Forrest
tire 10 Report post Posted August 21, 2009 You can just paint the needles with a red marker pen too lol, thats how the ones in my cluster were done.

Forrest 35 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) Prepare for pornography, so close to the finish now. Basically need to fit LSD, Sway Bars, Driveshaft and Gearbox Knuckle Bush and it will be time to go for a blast. Comments are welcome - Kill Switch Mount in boot - Rear end nearly complete - Front end nearly complete - Volvo 740 Estate Front Spoiler (iS lip esque, all for $9 and a little trimming so stoked) - Eyelids on - No words describe how stoked these next pics makes me feel, perfect height, stance and rake (with fixed foglight, hi beam headlight and eyelids fitted, also made some foglight covers out of clear OHP paper, wouldn't even know they were there and moved the outside temp sensor for the OBC onto the grill by the passenger headlights) - Completed engine bay More to come in the next 48 hours Edited August 22, 2009 by Forrest
Guest Simon* Report post Posted August 22, 2009 Porn Reminiscent of Mattzy's whip. Where be he? Awesome stuff Nath
JiB 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) Bad ass, I'm stuck studying. Still not quite a fan of the eyelids though. Doesn't the Volvo lip block the oil cooler? (The reason I was swapping to FL front before tech1) Edited August 22, 2009 by JiB
Forrest 35 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 ^ Cheers Si and Jon. Um Jon it is quite a short lip, so I wouldn't think it would make too much of a diff, but I will keep a close eye on the oil temp when it gets some hard runs when I start driving, worth a gamble at $9 anyway and it looks awesome
tire 10 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 The volvo lip is farken amazing! And I actually think the eyelids look alright (usually im not really a fan). Love your work bro.

APT 195 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 Everytime i look at your wheels makes me want them even more!! i wonder if they would fit FL e30s any better. Anyway your car is looking MINT, try get some more full shots of your car so i can see the eyelids properly lol
Forrest 35 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 ^ Cheers man, I am in love with them. I am a little worried about scrubing but the stance is perfect atm. Once I get the other wheels on I will take some pics. A FL has lower rear arches so your even more likely to rub, especially with my current set up, Race Konis and super low 60mm Eibach's
APT 195 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 Yer thats one of my main concern the rubbage with the arches and brakes. Let us know how you get along with the new tyres , are they going to be a 50 profile ? - how wide are they ?
Forrest 35 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 ^ Yeah if I did it again I would buy spacers instead of rangi modifying my brakes.... These are the new tyres, 205/55R15, running standard top mounts (after selling the camber plates) and offset control arm bushes and they sit just on the edge of the guard as the pics show. My arches have already been rolled by the previous owner so I am not expecting any problems
slotka07 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 Looking good Nath. Does this mean I get my garage back soon? R

Driftit 2078 Report post Posted August 22, 2009 Wow you have done heaps of work on it. Nice one. Wish I had your motivation and space. Started playing with my brothers E30 now. Just can't leave them alone. Come up to Manfield on November 14 & 15th for the Race Series. Would be keen to see it once again. Oh and as for the trimming of the rear valance. That must have been done by one of the previous owners. Was like that when I purchased it.
Forrest 35 Report post Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) ^ Cheers Dan, shes getting there, I will definitely be up for that Manfield meet. Well it is back on the road albeit running quite rough. Here are my list of problems LOL: - Speedo doesn't work - Drivers window won't go up - Washer fluid light on OBC is on - Drive shaft is vibrating really bad, see thread in maintenance forum to help me - Leaking coolant - Needs a wheel alignment That is all for now.
