328i E36 - Estoril Blue

Recommended Posts

I remember this car well, still wish I had bought it when Ray was selling it all of 2 years ago!

Oddly enough I saw this car in Onehunga, a few months ago, had a good look at it and was sad to see it in a sorry state, bits falling off, dirty and marked.

Now it's washed up on Trade Me. Could be a bargain?.. could also be a money pit for car that's probably been poorly maintained for a while.

Trade Me Listing

I hate how cars are treated like this in NZ just because they are in the lower price range - seems driving them into the ground is common practice for many people

yeah it sad to see good cars left to neglect, but in all honesty this one doesnt look too bad. A good clean and a new lip, park light and rear badge should tidy the exterior back up. Interior doesnt look too rough, just needs a clean. Anyones guess mechanically though, with the seller pleading ignorance.

Very interested to know how/why the ks went so drastically backwards back in 08, from 178,000 to 89,000 (and not just a mistake, it tracks normally from there).

id be all over it if it were down here, that colour is gorgeous.

Also worth a note is that fact that when you run the VIN its all on the piss. The VIN matches carjam, but none of the details match the car. Silver, Black interior, non-motorsport.

Reshelled, plates and tags? Might explain the mileage drop

Was interested for a project, but very hesitant now. Wonder if HellBM knows anything?

Very interested in having a bid, depending on price.

Would be good to see if anyone manages to figure out the anomalies with the vin/chassis numbers

Interesting discovery about the door number count.

Huh, I was under the impression it wasn't too bad back then. Not much lost if that was the case!

Heh, im blind, couldnt see that in the list for the life of me, and kept getting confused about the "window left,electric,front/rear" and the rear headrests.

VERY dodgy, unless the VIN in carjam is incorrect (which is very possible).

Oh yeah I remember this car, I was looking at buying it a few years a go to. Apparently he converted it, used to have jatco box etc ordinary jap import 328i. Was converted/changed with the engine/manual box from an NZ new 328i, and all the bits and pieces to make it an M3 replica.

So 4k more than the last sale price? Looks like it's had a quick wash, replacement rear badge and front indicator.

What a bargain... :/

even at that price i would be interested, if it didnt have a sketchy VIN issue.... still looks great.

The last auction was withdrawn despite hitting reserve, so not sure what it actually sold for.

But is it???? VIN says no... I'd walk from anything with a dodgy history like that.
