will 169 Report post Posted December 21, 2014 Those guns are not designed to spray underbody/liner, they do not have the correct nozzles. Those sort of guns are designed to atomise the liquid, with underbody/liner type coatings you want a large nozzle that just propels the liquid without trying to atomise it. The best gun is a Shutz type, I have several different ones for use with liquids of varying viscosities. Even the 'paraffin' type engine cleaning gun will work, sometimes with the standard long nozzle if the liquid is reasonably thin, other times you need to remove the standard long nozzle and replace it with a 50-100mm long piece of hollow tube, depending on what finish you are after. The shorter tube will disperse the liquid in a wider arc than a longer one. The advantage of the paraffin gun is that it comes with its own liquid container, the others use the container holding the liquid. If buying a paraffin gun, make sure that you buy one where the long nozzle is removable so you can interchange nozzles. It comes with 4 different attachments. Even the largest attachment would work with my compressor, but it worked fine on my mates industrial compressor. He is a panel beater by trade and says my compressor isn't designed for spraying a compound like the deck liner. francoisv 466 Report post Posted December 26, 2014 Merry Xmas all. Hope we all had a good time. Did some DIY and clean up in the garage today after picking up some M5 bits this morning. Decided to take the beasty out for a bit of a clean up and to get some shots from different angles other then the rear. francoisv 466 Report post Posted December 30, 2014 Finishing up the inner tail lights delete. Hoping to have the tailgate finished tomorrow with the reverse camera and the new locking system. Plan on using 2 central locking locks triggered by a momentary switch to unlock the tailgate. The switch will be fabricated to the rear BMW badge. francoisv 466 Report post Posted January 5, 2015 Not much of an update, been busy with family holidays and what not. But managed to start on the rear window sails and complete rear door delete. I guess its all the hard stuff to do now, detailing everything to make an even flow from front to rear and also ensuring that the left and right side are as close match as possible. Using primer brings out all the imperfections in the body filler, so still some work to do yet :-) Ive also decided to not do a wide body, as it will more then likely kill the look. Also trying to decide on 'blind spot' windows, I wont even be able to see through them, so if I do the windows, it will be more for looks then anything else. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Been ticking at the bogging and sanding which doesn't seem to ever go anywhere, but started on the rear sail for the rear window and also the rebuild of the M62 next week when the parts arrive.
