Eagle 1659 Report post Posted August 4, 2014 I can see why you would do it as its a cheap robust engine with massive torque. Would of preferred it in an E34 myself but least its something different.

Michael. 2313 Report post Posted August 4, 2014 Usually it's the otherway around, Modern engine in an old car. This is like an inside out pie.

BM WORLD 1282 Report post Posted August 5, 2014 I know the guy , very clever engineering , he didn't like the laggy power of the e39 m5 engine , so he built this , used the m30 engine as they are very strong and one of the few cast iron big block engines out there ,that can take heaps of boost. and still have nice power at low rpm etc
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted August 5, 2014 No doubt the M30 Turbo is one hell of a power plant - and it'll spool that HX35 in no-time with 3.5l behind it. It would have been a dreamy combo in an E34, E28 or an E24 (mmmm), but just seems weird in an E39.

Pretty cool project though. I suspect the nissan gbox was used because they're cheap, and handle big power.
