BreakMyWindow 1874 Report post Posted February 10, 2015 I am amused to see these surfacing as "Rare and Collectible" . I remember these being built, they were parts bin & desperation models by BMW SA to have some performance models and poke a finger at the sanctions on supply into the then apartheid ridden South Africa. They compared poorly to models available elsewhere in the world , lacking refinements and relying on bodge engineering to shoehorn components in There were boatloads of SA 325's coming into NZ in the early 90's many of which suffered from the same parts bin culture, At one stage I was offered 5 for $10 grand. Nostalgia and Hubris will no doubt come to the fore and these factory bodge jobs will command more than some of the more creative and better engineered one off conversions done in our own back yards. A mate of mine had an e30 325is ex SA. 2.7 litre parts bin special comprised of Alpina engine parts, M3 suspension and Aluminium Doors and bonnet. An absolute hoot to drive, combined with sharp handling. I wouldn't knock SA perfomance models.

Unfortunately we didn't have the e30 m3 in South Africa. We had to make do with what we had hence the parts bin special editions

gjm 3258 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 I like it. And it is rare... How many 333i models has anyone seen on the roads? Can't comment on the build quality. Sounds like a lot of fun, though.

trip3 16 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 I agree. Definately not a parts bin car... There is a lot of unique parts to his car that came from Alpina... Updated look... ? atleast he has all the parts to take it back... Colour change... ? And biggest part for a collector would be the missing badge in the engine bay... Still a beautiful beast... Pitty I don't have tht sort if coin... I envy the guy who buys it
