Beautiful M5. Daytona violet is in the dream category for me. Up there with the E30 M3 and Alpina E30 B6 3.5.

Is that the 750 that lived on Seacliffe Ave, Belmont 20 years ago? To think that it was only a 15 year old car then, but the styling was already regarded as classic in much the same way as today.

518... Didn't know such a thing existed. Why would you order a big sedan with a teeny engine?

Ive driven 518i and 520i manual back in the day, both painfully slow but if you just puttering town in city traffic then they are probably fine. 20 year old tyres on it are the biggest concern.

Prices are laughable as usual

In some European countries (Italy, of note) the road taxes on engines over 2000cc are huge.  Hence the existence of the Masseratti Bi-Turbo...1998cc , twin turbo.  In the old days taxes were done purely on engine size.  518... a 'luxury automobile' with small taxes.
I'd contest the seller claim that most came with auto transmissions. Due to the small engine and 'engaged' nature of European drivers, I'd expect most came with manual gearboxes... but just a guess.

Had a 520i manual which was fun. I would take a 518i manual for the novelty factor - but not at that price 😁

Seats look super comfy. Not much going for it otherwise.

Yeah performance wise its surprising poor, a E28\E34 535i is faster despite being older and heavier. That auto must really rob alot of power.

The Horror...  Hoped I'd never seen another of these after I left Canada 15 years ago.  The are hopeless in all aspects, purely marketed to 'rich old guys' looking for nostalgia with a warranty (when new).  Not made in manual... says it all.

They also had a nice original NZ new e38 740i for sale recently - listing expired a couple of days ago so presumably sold. M-pars, but was sadly not a Sport spec car.

I'm from Canada too. They were absolute boomermobiles. Even when hemi swapped they are barely cool.

I saw this very car prowling around the backstreets of CHCH a few days ago, and can confirm that they do in fact look as stupid in the metal as  they do in the photos.

And up until that moment, I thought that Chrysler Group had reached peak cringe with the PT Cruiser.
