Wow crazy... just left there for 23 years. What kind of deteriation could you expect to see, suspension bushes gone hard? Rubber seals in parts gone hard / damaged with fluid? Otherwise it must be mint as mint gets. These are my favorite BMW model atm... If I return with a BMW project it would be an E34, I dont think theres any BMW that captures that quality, BMW-ness and class like a well sorted E34 does, other than the E30.

To attract and develop new talent into NZ motorsport the Castrol BMW Race Driver Series are offering one lucky winner a scholarship drive, for more details see here... http://www.bmwraceseries.co.nz/?page_id=1582 Or checkout the Facebook page, and the car and entry forms will be on the stand at the CRC Speedshow coming up next weekend. Anyone that has ever thought about getting into racing, you won't get a better chance than this.

im amazed its not in a BMW museum or something. cant be too many 0KM M5s around. If i won powerball i'd totally buy it, and put the hardest KM on it that any E34 M5 has seen (although well maintained and cared for). Track day, drags, skids, everything. just to piss off the purists.

I used to watch these monsters in the European Rallycross when they were banned from the Rallying. Racing with RS200s, 6R4s, T16s, R5 T2s and Integrales was totally awesome. I can't remember the exact power figures, a lot depended on the size of the turbo and tune for each particular set up, but the figures were certainly in the 600-800hp range, so the quoted 770hp would be comparable. It doesn't sound quite as wild (no huge flames on the over-run, etc.) but from the way that car is launching out of the corners it is certainly performing!

Probably not much deterioration at all, contrary to what many people would say. Just a decent check over and freshen up I reckon.

Pretty much impossible to make a "total loss" of a race car especially an E30 on the track, and believe me I have tried. The condition is in there so that the car is treated with respect, as if it was your own, not used recklessly without so much as a "oh, sorry about that... here's your keys" afterwards.

Come join the Turbo E34's in the BMW Race series. 600BHP should put a smile on your face.

I couldn't commit to it. No. 5 kills it for me - I doubt I could find $20k if it became necessary.

Would you like white shoes with that?

I've got 3 good reasons for wrapping: 1. If I can stop it lifting in the concave areas with primer and sort the edges where the MID and head unit fit it will be perfect. To get a matched finish with paint would require a proper spray gun and clear coat. 2. The trim has a rubberised coating so painting would require a lot of prep. 3. Long term is to retrim in Lotus White so I'll want to restore the black trim at that point.

Had a crack at refreshing the worn interior trim with some ivory white 3M wrap. Discovered the concave centre console trim on the E31 is an absolute muthaf**ker to wrap (especially without primer). Got there in the end after 3-4 hours and several aborted attempts where the vinyl split, etc. Love the colour but the finish is not up to the standard I'm hoping for so may have to seek pro help if I fail again once I've got some primer. Will also be doing the cluster bezel and vent trim. Arrggghhh!! Arrghhhh x 2 In place but imperfect...

I'd be happy to just get any sort of invite. They can call me Peter, or Pauline for all I care. #guessimnotthatpicky
