At last the collection of underneath bits is complete. The clutch & flywheel took nearly 4 months to arrive ex USA via kiwishipping. The nzd was a lot stronger back then so buying this lot now wouldn't be as fun. Major surgery carried out next week including : - clutch - flywheel - rear main seal - driveshaft guibo and centre bearing - engine & trans mounts - new exhaust fasterners and mountings - gear shifter rebuild with all new bushings and fittings.

Hi my fellow NZ'ers! I am wishing to convert my auto E34 525i with the M50B25TU (Vanos) into a manual. I am finding it difficult (not suprisingly) to find the getrag 250 + conversion kit that came standard on the late model 525i's with the M50 engine. The earlier models with the M20 engine have the getrag 240's or 260's (or zfSG310?) i believe and these seem to be more available. I've heard that the M20's gearbox bolts up perfectly to the M50 but due to the M50's tilt the box is on a 10degree tilt and therefore doesn't align with the gearbox mounts. Is anyone familiar with the process required to modify the mounts to suit the older gearbox? Or even better, if you can buy these pre-made? Oor even BETTER, does anyone have a maual conversion kit for my M50 E34? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Cheers

I remember getting my e39 528i ppi'd @ glenns. Impressed to see the right rear speaker listed as not working. That's pretty thorough!

I'll pass for now, thanks though Brent. Although I can't stand to look at the gap between the tire and fender I'll just leave it under a car cover until I shell out for coilovers.

This was done before the injectors or exhaust so hopefully still a few more gains to be had down the track shortly. Sport Evo injectors are expensive, but I think there some other Bosch options we can check out that will work the same.

Yep, power up the car as others have said if the battery is dead. Done this many times on AA jobs. Wont work if the car is dead locked though, which is often. Before having lock picks & when deadlocked - Have done as he did then powered up an ign circuit & then power the windows down.

The buyer paying for the PPI dodged a bullet.... you should see the rest of the list.... and someone on here could end up buying it

Cheers guys, ended up just calling the AA and the bloke had seen a few like this before -he wedged the door frame and threaded a rod through to hook and pull the bonnet release. Car in the garage now with battery charging. Will get the door lock replaced ASAP so this doesn't happen again.

If it's a flat battery can you get under the bonnet or Jack the car up so you can get under there and clip a jump battery on to the main feed to the starter.

Sadly, was only driving it to drop into my mechanic for a combustion test. Possible headgasket leak. FML! EDIT: Am guessing where you mean by 'spaghetti junction'. Auckland's is a bit more this... Than this...

Wow, lucky lady to get there in one piece that would have ended horribly. Things like that are the reason I think the longer period between warrants is a bad idea.

Nice car pedigree! Don't worry about skipping the AA report, their reports are worth about as much as a child's crayon drawings.
