2 pointsI watched it last night, taped (Voda cable tv box) from Prime. Dave - hey that was good news, it was indeed in HD! I thought it was pretty good, actually. Chris Evans? Well, he was being himself. Really. Everyone knows he's a bit of a knob, particularly Chris himself. I like that he's largely unapologetic about it, he has a bit of genuine about him, along with that cheezy energy. He should have a shave though. Designer stubble just becomes 'Aqualung' when your beard is more salt than pepper! I thought Matt LeBlanc was very good. He's self-assured, a confident peddler, and is a purveyor of dry new york humour. I was a bit bored with the top gun segment, though appreciated the constant nods to the movie. Sabine was relegated to being unable to beat Evans because her vette wasn't up to the Viper? Hmmm. I thought Jessie Eisenberg with Gordo was largely un-funny, despite Eisenberg's sharp wisecracks. They were wasted where Evans was fawning over Gordo. Different format, better research and questions needed. Top Trumps style pitting guests against each other? Missed opportunity! What would Parkinson think?! Anyway, the new Top Gear wasn't terrible, was pretty funny, and a change of presenters always takes time. Oh, and updating the star in a reasonably-priced car into a rallycross with the minis - brilliant! Love the sound of those Minis, too. I'm looking forward to the next one. My 0.02 worth.

1 pointGreetings all. I'm joining bimmersport after owning my 2001 530i E39 for about 10 months. Like a lot of my generation, I grew up, and learned to drive, in a selection of Datsuns and Nissan's. My first car was a 1974 Datsun Violet, 160j SSS, a car I inherited. However, not being mechanically gifted and conscious of not attracting the unwanted attention of fuzz, I moved onto a sequence of sedans. That was until last year, when it was decided that my family needed a second car. I saw an opportunity to get something a little more exciting than our Honda CRV. At first I started looking at 300ZXs, a long obsession of mine, but at long last I concluded that they were fun, but impractical, and also a little small for a man of height. So I started looking at BMWs until, through word of mouth, I heard of a friend of a friend that was thinking about selling his 5 series. He had worked in France, for BMW, developing the drive train for the series that succeeded mine. So now I have my own bimmersport, and there's no looking back. I love driving it. It's a great high speed cruiser with enough to make it fun too. I came across this forum while researching the stereo. I wanted to be able to get the higher frequencies and possibly be able to connect up a aux input of sometime. I've learnt my car is to old to have the global radio and would need to replace the unit with a European model. Future work well be required on the steering system as the car darts and wanderers a little, and I've also noticed, what guessing is the fire wall, is crumbling away. Sorry for the long post.

1 pointChanged the upper seal and lower windscreen cowl in the E38 Msport. Both are done now, massive look improvement. Detail really improves the whole car overall. Spent plenty of this weekend on the rotary polishing after a good clar bar as well. Msport just about ready for some pics .... Couple more weeks

1 pointI had to get some new rear tyres rather quickly, recently (double puncture). The rears are Supercars (235/45 R17) and the fronts are Potenza's. My feeling is a worn joint in the steering system, but in any case a wheel alignment wouldn't hurt.

1 pointGo for the the 135i only if you want high performance. Very fast and fun cars but come with extra potential costs. The first one you linked is a great combo, DCT and N55 (same as my 335i, same dealer I bought mine from even), which is hard to find I think. If you go for the 135i the newer N55 engine is considered more reliable, but the N54 has more 'cheap' performance potential if you modify it. 130i if you can find would be a great balance between power, cost and reliability. Those engines are known to be very reliable, no turbo but still put out 270hp. 120i... only if you find them cheap, no other advantage to having the bottom of the range engine.

1 pointi had a 120d older diesel hatch.Do not be concerned about the diesel chatter you dont really hear it from inside.Just remember you will have the on road rolling performance of a 3.0 but only paying the petrol bill of a 1.5.My round town consumption was 6.5 l 100 k and on a trip it was easy to get 5.5 .So on a trip you could go 900 km on the wee 45 litre tank. However i truly beleive a diesel likes longer runs.Dont buy a diesel if its going to get lots of short runs.A diesel is more expensive to register(no acc levey on diesel at the pump) and you pay $62 every 1000 ks in ruc.In the time i had mine it only used oil and tyres.(about 80 000 k (80-k to 160 k)Most of them will be runflats which were a harsh ride. lso most diesel pumps are messy(clatex at kaiwharar is cjeapest) and i hate the smell of diesel on the hands which is almost inevitable when you fill up cos the pumps are covered in it

1 pointyeah when that elephant trunk blocks the water can't get out, and does that. i usually cut the bottom off it so it has a much wider opening and then clean it out. sometime if the rubber seal is busted buy a new one they are only $20-30 or so from memory, haven't got one for a few years. i should check the one in the coupe actually, i know i have modded the one in the cabby already.

1 pointWhen you sit at the lights and hear that 4 pot diesel chatter, you'll regret not buying the Inline 6.

1 pointpull that big plug connector going to the ABS/DSC control module and trace those 2 wires...it's hard to say without knowing the exact color codes as Will mentioned.

1 pointDid you ask the previous owner what's the story? Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk

1 pointYeah that looks pretty suspect - the ABS unit is the DSC aswell, probably find there was an issue with DSC light staying on so someone just disconnected the appropriate wires hoping a WOF inspector or buyer wouldn't pick up that it didn't come on at all at startup. Try find a pin out on the net for the e39 plug. Would also check glove box and boot fuses if that doesn't fix it incase someone pulled them, I cant remember where the appropriate fuse is.
