The mini........ Started life as a 1963 mk1 bog standard 850. i love nostalgia and the cars I build, I want to invoke the feel, and smell of what it was like. I can't afford the real thing, so I make it. I happened to come across a car that had already had the body resto done and painted the right colour still on its original rego for a couple of grand. The mini is now an exact tribute car to the mk1 cooper bmc "works" rally car of 1963. It has taken 3 years and a lot of searching, but everything on that car is period correct and from the 60s both interior and exterior. It now has a 1275 engine and is heaps of fun. It's a keeper and will be my daughters in time (she's 4). Same with the e30, again all period correct parts to "relive" another time. maybe they'll be worth something one day, maybe not....I don't care. It all about how it makes you feel. And the point being for anyone out there, is that you don't have to have a lot of cash to create something special, just pick the car you love from the past and recreate it. Cheers

IIRC Alpina has tweaked the trans, and given it button shift on the wheel. Only came in auto though, no twin clutch. According to a quick google, https://translate.google.co.nz/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpina_B5&prev=search

Of course it's not my decision but once you'd chucked a manual in it there's not much to dislike. I love the colour too. Looks straight and the subtle mods are sweet. However it works out with Dion GLWS and I also hope it goes to a good home, it deserves it.

Haha yea cheers guys, my car any questions let me know. It's not perfect but it's also 20 years old. It's had an insane amount of work done to it over its life. But sadly I have to change things up. Had way to meny E36 haha

As beautiful as it is. I feel sorry for it. It doesn't look driven hard. The way they should be.

Hey, Yeah I agree with you and yup I made spare arms. The design was done by Kayne Barrie, I can't take the credit and theres some pretty trick ideas in there that you can't see! No modification to the arms needed apart from that welded plate. Uses larger off the shelf wheel bearings, E28 inner drive flange and for the compact a stronger custom hardened Hub. This is a really good solution for e30s/compacts breaking axles. I haven't seen anyone anywhere able to put a larger stronger shaft through the standard E30 arm and most parts are available off the shelf...So easy! "Sway away" make the axles and lots of off road guys use them in the states, every things on the shelf ready to go. The CV's are from GKN, but there essentially a "Porsche 108mm" cv. These are super common and you can pick them up at most performance websites selling driveline products. I went with CV as its there same as my old man runs in his GTR. His spares now become our spares haha, according to GKN the cut down CVs apparently have 30% better cooling. More surface area I suppose. If you want a strong E30 rear end give Kayne a bell.

Don't forget to change your brake booster oil. Brakes working a lot better with some fresh oil in there now..

I love hearing about Amon tuned suspension. It's like hearing about Rossi spec nifty fifties.
