Scott at Fraser Cars finally placed the certificate by LVVTA defined as 'heavily modified/scratch built car' on Monday. Only taken about 4 months. Ended up doing a bump steer test, but no drama's there. Plate ran out of space so the additional info is on the paperwork. No room in the engine bay so its loudly placed on drivers B pillar. The two step installed is eating pre cat oxygen sensors. Not really surprised. May look to remove this function. There is little need for 2 step from standstill for a daily, but its sure fun in the new Waterview tunnel. Ala sort of this vid below apart from louder. But at speed its quicker to get the shotgun/flame boom part. Especially with hardly much mufflering in the exhaust. New progress with some non performance items, managed by some grace of the BMW God to find & buy these, OEM DTM E92 M3 GTR mirrors direct from BMW Motorsport in Germany (the CF housings and mirror glass). They are not bolt on's to an E82, but I have 3D printing in ABS at the ready and my old stock 135i mirrors to scan and model from. This will form the part that joins the CF mirror housing to the door, the triangle piece. They are circa 2012 items. IND makes them for a E92 but wants spastic money. Rather do it Kiwi and make me own ala the first photo from RKP composites. These arrive in a fortnight from .de Daniel from Brisbane has updated his RHD ST exhaust manifold. I'm not 100% on the design of this (due to heavy space restrictions), but I really like the CNC'd flange for sure. Also he can provide a slim Jim version of the stock steering column shaft that is so chunky and limits downpipe size likewise wastegate pipe screamer/plumb in room. Noting that the stocker is fat for a reason, by providing a crumple zone at its lower part in the event of a crash. Saves the legs n all.....I'm still keen to get hold of this over a local custom fab'd one which should save R&D time and both are being fabricated by Daniel for the NZ clone. In the mean time I wait patiently as usual this time for a new O2 sensor to turn up so the car wont splutter around at 7lb boost. Should be in this weekend and back to full skidz strength.

your o-rings *should* be alright; clean them and check in good light that the surfaces are undamaged (not scored). Your gasket... maybe. Looking at your image it doesn't appear you've thoroughly cleaned the mating surface. Your used-once gasket may be compromised by gunge underneath it, or possibly deformed by clamping forces onto large-sized grit (who knows?). You could carefully remove the gasket and clean it, thoroughly clean the mating surfaces, and give it a try (I avoided saying 'crack'). Neither your o-rings or gasket have been repeatedly heat-cycled, so you should be okay. If in doubt, new gasket; save you doing the job again. HTH

Damn, I think you are right. I found this picture online photo 4, the good one should look something like this. I am new to BMW, and I don't really know what I am doing. I should have asked you guys before I put it on. but hey, I learned something new(the hard way). someday, I will manual swap it and put an m52b28 in and play with the cam a bit. But I swear to god mine old ring looks like a part of the valve, and there is no gap whatsoever. Even the reception guy at BM Workshop part department couldn't tell. I went to buy the O-ring with the valve, and after I got the O-ring, I ask him about where the O-ring should sit, he had a good look at it and told me it is supposed to be on the outside, and then I asked him it doesn't look like it will fit since it is too wide for the gap, and he said, you have to lube it with engine oil, and it will fit. The question is can I reuse the gasket and O-ring this time? it is only on there for one day.

It's not the change per-se, it's the plummet in functionality (no BB Code or raw post editing) that's the problem. Sure, we get used to it but that doesn't make it suck less. It also encourages the exact behaviour that rag-top (rightfully) deplores. I post less, I quote less and and don't even bother with complex formatting or quoting any more. Might just be me. That might even suit some people lol.

oh, okay. I get it. you want to buy an e30 in Wellington. You want the sympathy close to potentially lower your outlay below the (small, commpressed, wellington) market! I've gotta head into the attic later, I'll see if there's an e30 in there.

This new forum software makes any type of reply painful. I'm not surprised people don't bother editing quotes, it's a crap shoot.

Manage to sort it, I'll leave this up and explain in case anyone else comes across this issue. Ended up taking the motor from the links and pulling apart, and just lightly scratching the surface of all the connections. Chucked it in and away it went, must of been a bad connection to the motor when regarding the lower speeds. Might be helpful for someone else in the same boat and not wanting to buy a new motor.

Ah, the irony. Coming from CHCH to AKL to look for cars and a nice candidate on trademe is listed as being in AKL but is actually in CHCH!

You also have the unique position of fairly equal usage of Crunchy and what I assume to be your real name (SM), I once heard two people debating whether Crunchy or SM built better turbos. You helped me out a bundle back in the day when i was a broke ass building a mitsi libero (DECEVR), I'm still grateful to this day.

Lee, I'm loving your new Samosa shifter. nice integration work! Tell us how it changes your experience behind the wheel. It's still standard gate, but shorter/narrower? Right then, I'm going to see if there's an Onion Bhaji variant for the 545i.

I also discovered the Samsonas shifter also requires a new shift linkage, this is due to the factory shifter having a kink in it which matched the gearbox connector, about 5 degrees. Thankfully i got the parts to make a new shifter linkage. When i asked about instructions i got "There is no instruction sheet for the shifter, from what my technicians have explained it is straight forward similar process to any short shifter on the market." Straight forward in a gutted race car maybe lol. So with the new base welded up, its was time for a test fit, over all pretty happy with how it sits now, and no ugly cut console. It looks pretty legit, a coby alcantara boot helps up the class a notch too ;-)
