Well today was the day she slipped her moorings and headed for the bar and open water. The coast guard and local boats escorted her to the bar. Was a king tide around12.06 their about she was showing around 2.2mtrs so a little to play with. Should be Wellington harbour no doubt by night fall.

This was on trademe for 2.5k not long ago in Christchuch iirc. Guessing he's added on his expenses to the price with some profit. Paint\panel are poor (it had a major respray patch failure on the left rear quarter if memory serves). All this guy has done is take pictures in the dark to hid the fact along with a weak ass description rather present it how it is.

Car evolution has stopped and gone down the stupid path of pointless features, this is all they can do in some cases, just mess around with parts that never needed changing.

Ok. I usually give the MAF a clean for good measure when doing work like this. Checking the fuel system is easy enough on these with the schrader although i'll bet the fuel filter is very old so probably check that with the regulator at the same time before the pressure.

From what I've read it's not a good idea. I thought I was getting the car cheap and I was ill informed when I purchased the car and thought I was getting a steal. Haha failed. So I'm working with what I've got until I can afford more.

Thats nothing, id take whatever is in the best condition as usual. The maroon looks tidy expect for the stone chips everywhere but has probably had most things replaced unlike a 150,000 example.

i know these engines are good but i would take one with 150ks over 372ks for sure

Factory manuals, probably the sport models are the ones worth spending on as long as they aren't too far gone. Mechanical wise they still cheap to fix in my book compared an overhaul on the newer models, but yeah wouldn't want to pay anyone to do that due to labor costs. I do wonder what happens to that white Naghi motors M5 that was bought by someone here recently.

:yesterday: I filled/topped up the AT fluid in the 328... some (much?) had drained out when I disconnected the cooler to replace the radiator some time back and it was slipping and really didn't enjoy the kickdown. PRO TIP: Make sure the car is running when you undo the filler plug! I knew the fluid temp needed to be 35 - 50 *C and the car running when filling but thought I'd poke the transfer tube in before I stared it up. No David, no. At rest most of the fluid drains back into the sump and submerges the filler tube... ergo, if you undo the bung with the car off then AT fluid will pour out. Messy. Ultimately of little concern, just meant I had to pump more clean stuff in (that doesn't hurt) and had to spend a little more time cleaning up. PRO TIP #2: exhausts get really hot really quickly, filler bung is only inches away from exhaust. Avoid contact with hot exhaust at all costs. Good news - my amazing Jatco is now harnessing all the ponies my venerable M52 is throwing at it.

? yeah, the air was craning for the best view! Imapct? I think so. The first one (last year), I know I hit a pot hole on SH2 that was a fair impact on the front left. This one (right rear) I have no memory of. I don't drive up or down kerbs, don't recall a pot hole on right rear... could have happened years ago and slowly weakened. Recently Jon Mechaniker remarked some of the rims seemed a little our of round, as did Kelvin when he first mounted the 003's. Yesterday when we were inspecting, there was a slight flat-spot on the inner rim bead on one section. Overall these wheels/tyres have needed balancing more regularly as the tyres wear (around 6000kms), as I'm sensitive to them going out of balance. I think the car driving so smoothly and with all the suspension work, it really shows up the state of the wheels/tyres. In reality it's an old car despite the care and maintenance I lavish on it; it's coming up for 15 years old! I'll figure out the best condition rims and take them to the wheel specialists in Porirua, or perhaps Rim Rite in Palmy. This work is a bit beyond the cosmetics from Wheel Magician.

Today’s episode: ... at least it was only flat on the bottom? The outcome is that the alloy rim from this corner also has a crack on the inside at the bead. Time to dig myself a path through my workshop to the wheel stash. New tyres next month... Yeah, two years and twenty-something thousand kms. I'm happy, I live at the top of a twisty hill so the tyres don't get warmed up before they're into a series of corners. It'll be RE003's again on the basis of great grip, excellent wet weather performance... and any extra budget I had will now have to be spent on wheels.
