Random act of a good bugger yesterday at supermarket Sun was out yesterday in Palmy so I risked a visit to the supermarket in the M3, saw a nice Alfa 159 wagon decided to park next to it (therefore person cares about their car and wont let his door hit mine). While parking this guy walks up to my car and asks if I would like a new mag wheel for my car for free, it was the owner of the 159 who at one stage had an E36 M3 and this wheel had been sitting in his garage for years. He wouldn't accept payment so if you are ever in Palmy for the night and need a motel the manager /owner of http://citycorporate.co.nz/ is a good bugger and I assume he would run his motel the same way. He also had a Gulia in the garage

Up for sale is my 1995 BMW 318ti. The car is New Zealand new, factory 5 speed manual and blessed with a m42b18 four cylinder engine. I purchased this car with the intent on using it as a daily driven/ drive to track situation however my hobbies have changed from track racing to skiing so I must sell and try to find a nice 'ix' of some description for the snow. Over the years since it was bought new from coombes Johnston BMW it has had a lot of work done to a high standard with good quality parts. This is no 'pearla' of a vehicle, be it that there is a few bumps and grazes, clearcoat coming off of the bonnet, however the drive train is sound and the majority of the paintwork polishes up to a nice alaskablau shine. If you are interested please take a look at the photos where you will see that I have included screenshots of the previous owners trademe listing, outlining some of the work that he has had done to the vehicle. The car is currently sitting at 260,000k's and will go up from daily use. I am accepting offers close to $3000 If this does not sell I will likely set aside some money and look for a 325i donor vehicle and 6 cylinder swap the car.

Shout out to Gavin for being an all-round helpful bloke. Had a few occasions lately where I've needed stuff urgently, and he has always turned it around, next day delivery (to whatever address I've given), and even included sweeties in the box. All supplied with the forum discount, too. ?

I'll check to see if early and late can be swapped. Edit: age appears irrelevant. Coupe/sedan are different though - I've asked which these came from.

How about this? No idea if it helps https://www.trademe.co.nz/2483868085

Don't know who's going to buy it though - I was the only non dealer bidder I think and I certainly won't be buying it.

It may be cheeky but I reckon fair play. Everyone wants to make some $$ and if you spend enough time researching the market value so that when an opportunity comes up you can jump on it, I think you deserve the margin you make on it. As coop said, there was ample time for an enthusiast to buy it. Sure its depressing seeing an evo vert for 33k but hey, if it wasn't selling in Auckland for 30, it won't sell in Palmy for 33k lol

The average joe doesn’t have $20-30k to drop on a car. Let alone something that is more a weekend car/hobby/something that is going go to require on going R&M like an aging M3. Some might be able to via business or adding into the mortgage, but I’d say most don’t. So enter the dealers where they can offer cheap and easy finance. Easier for people who can’t afford it, to afford it. I thought the four door M3 was a good price (going off the ad and pics). There was ample time for an enthusiast to purchase that car, as it had been on the market for a while... snooze you loose I guess.

I know people disagree with me (they're just doing their job, they had the money to buy it, blah blah), but damn dealers are the scum of the earth. They're no better than your average tardme car flipper, buying, washing it, taking photos and selling for a large mark up like they earned it. Taking the opportunity to buy these cars away from legit passionate potential owners, and then pricing them out of the market, with their "superior buying power".
