So I was nearly about to finish up that panel without more sanding, but since the paint lifted in the first place u thought the chances of it happening again might be likely due to a poor job in th first place. So I started sanding into this and man, rainbow cake. Followed some bog from the edge of the door to the fuel cap. Bloody heck Now would be the time to do it right Anyway, would hate to have to do this again especially on that panel, it's a big job to do with masking Ive had to do it on the other e46

Collected this today.. was advertised on here with a failing transmission. 2000 540i pre facelift motorsport, ex Japan. Drove it 25km home from Cambridge. Transmission gave me no trouble at all, although I was gently cruising... Generally a well looked after car with plenty of maintenance including chain guides and all the usual suspects. There are a few things going on with it however, and I'll document its progress here as we go...

Nice car Qube!! Exactly like the wif'es one GRN338. We paid $7500 for hers 4 years ago at 130,000km and it doesnt have the towbar or Dynavin (what are they about $1k?) I think it worth $9k all day long - I hope you get more. GLWS

only a year old when it came in so probably ok. agree its a bit pricey. @Gaz front PDC is the only thing i'd miss, has adaptive lights and high beam assist so not a terrible spec

An orbital sander. 4 x 40 grit discs. 1 hour later. That entire panel had a layer of at thinnest 2mm to thickest 5mm. Absolutely unnecessary, I can't see any dings or low spots that would justify it, it was pure madness. It's going to take some time building that panel back up to perfect, but better done right from be ground up, and I would prefer less bog used, it was straight up stupid. Finally got the panel back to where I could only see a thin layer of surfacer over the original paint. Might probably sand it back even further when I get the bumper off anyway since I'll be re primering the whole panel. But the surface looks pretty good past the fuel cap.

I got no issues with using bog, but there is a time and a place, and a way in which it should be used But this here is madness. Where does the bog end?!?

Update got some new wheels after a few F arounds on Facebook. Now ive never been a fan of big wheels and i cringed a bit when i saw they were 19s but as soon as i saw them in person and put them on i never took them off. Fitment is perfect. Tiny bit of rub in the rear around corners but i havent rolled the guards yet. Some before and after shots

I did a lot of research prior to purchasing and drove 6 or more E60 M5s before going with the B5. I struggled with smg box.. great when flooring it but not so great when not imho. The servicing and issues with the V10 are well documented. Any issues with H1 are those that are related to those normally associated with N62, Valve Stem Seals, Alternator Bracket/Gasket Oil Leak (Replaced), Coolant Transfer Pipe Leak (replaced), Valve Cover & Valve Cover Gasket Oil Leaks (replaced). Alpina specific issues are cracked coolant expansion tank (replaced) and the bearing/seal wear or failure in the supercharger. When dismantling I checked the oil collection and appeared to be in spec at approx 5-10ml. Its true I’ve had to help school local BMW dealer and double check part numbers before they order but that’s probably me ?. Still help saves delays or expense. Would love it to go to someone who’ll enjoy and take care of it and happy to negotiate. Only selling as I cringe every time I have to put our recently acquired dog in the back seat. A touring version of these would be ideal.

So... today the 330ci got some overdue love and attention. I've been getting gloss withdrawals due to the Auckland water shortage but decided to buy some rinse-less wash and give it all ago. So gave the car a wash, dry, light hand polish, IPA wipe down, trim restorer then a fresh coat of sealant. Went to town on the interior glass too and got rid of the last hardest to reach glue remains from tint I removed as well. Had to take a few snaps of course to justify the effort

Also picked up another set of 18" BMW rims style 172 (I think they might be replicas), but not sure which one I like best on the e46. The 172s are 8.5" x 18" and will be going gun metal. Was planning to swap the BBS from my wagon and put on the e46. Difficult to decide which will go on the e91 and which on the e46.
