You want to Penrite green which is BMW spec, that blue coolant isnt (colour not always accurate). You dont want really want to mix anything if its running the BMW blue stuff. Id just add water until you get the leak fixed. Running diluted coolant or water for a short period isn't going to do any harm. Then you can either re-fill with BMW blue coolant or flush the system and switch to Penrite green etc which is far cheaper and works fine. https://penriteoil.com.au/products/green-oem-coolant-concentrate

Ended up buying a spare 2.93 diff to remove the bearings and swap the center into. Should be able to sell my old unit once this one is in. Needed a decent puller to get the bearings off and no lip for the puller to grab on one end (i carefully die grinded one). All went back together fine but unfortunately the backlash increased from 0.11 to 0.22 after re-assembly. Good news is its going up to KBM to get re-shimmed so shouldn't have any issues once its back in.

Agree, I'm living proof. Just smoked out the lounge while the recently repainted firebox did its final cure. Nice combo of wife putting masses of the firebox black paint on and me forgetting to light a slow burning fire for the first curing session...... Now if it had rod bearings we wouldn't be having this discussion, but I'm pretty merciless to a firebox from cold.

Im the same, snow foam seems to be mostly hype... I only do it now if caked in sh*t.. and even then I dont think it does much other than make the drain all soapy...

Diff has arrived, looks great, very excited to get it installed and test it, ordered new seals which will be here this afternoon, then on to try remove the diff out of the car, need to find a thin 50mm wrench to remove the driveshaft... came with new ring gear bolts and some haribos, can't complain

Less of a rant, more of an 'annoyed with myself for missing it and losing the details.' A 1950 Ford Popular, looking more-or-less original except for slightly chunkier rims and tyres, fitted with a BMW M47 diesel engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. (And uprated suspension, brakes, etc.) What a great daily that'd make!
