https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/435d/listing/4211217083 Not often these pop up for sale. Little bit poverty spec, but beggars can't be choosers. Less said about the wheels the better, but I can't think of many better ways to rip up the Cardrona hill to get some runs in, it even has the racks for your board! I've always wondered why the cooking diesel F3x's didn't get the twin pipe setup like the petrol 35i/40i, maybe due to X-Drive constraints?

Meanwhile a Nissan Tiida can drive around with its roof caved in, front guards falling off and bumper held on with masking tape without an issue. Great system, works well.

https://www.hgperformance.co/blog/bmw-rod-bearings-their-maintenance/#:~:text=BMW Rod Bearing Maintenance&text=The original rod bearings should, for a high-performing vehicle. Found the answer, a new bearing design from 2011 on and these guys reckon their solution is permanent.

Edit: This was meant to be in 'Quick Rant' rather than 'Quick Questions' - my bad! 🙄

Yup. Building up some patience to attempt it once again on the wife's S13. After drilling holes all through the floor to add driveshaft hoops, seat mounts, belt mounts. Removing suspension that isn't branded even though it's superior quality to the sh*t that does pass. Standard brakes that the certifier doesn't like the feel of.. Its got to be designed so you give up right?

Question. If you do the rod bearings on one of these, are we one and done with improved bearings (?), or a recurring problem? And if recurring, how often?

There's been some very nice examples sell quickly recently, that Indianapolis one was a peach. The white one in Manukau with all the big ticket items done already would be good buying, but not really the best colour for the E60 shape... If you can get along with 2-doors and slightly more challenging looks, this facelift M6 might be the ticket? Epic spec sheet, and with all the updates the S85 received over the years. Probably the best exhaust for them on it as well, with the Meisterschaft pipes.

First of all - I'm not a mechanic, but it looks good to me!

That why i just replace mine with the factory seat for the WOF. The base mount\sliders are specially designed for the vehicle by a reputable company and that all i care about.
