Hello Bimmersport world, I wasn’t planning on joining team BMW as they always seemed too expensive and complicated for me (but fantastic cars). However a friend was selling his 2016 118d F20 after being deported/relocated to the West Island (Australia) and I have got to like the 118d a lot. Although I have always hankered for an M car especially after seeing an M5 wagon (the V10 version) at Continental Cars Parts department the other day and the M3 CS at CC-BMW looks the business but $283,000 although East Auckland BMW has one for $270,500. The 118d it is a nice package for not much money. She has done a few kms (150k) so I am working through a list of maintenance items to attend to (I will be posting a few questions if I can find answers already in the forum). I am hoping on getting 300k out of it before anything major is required (optimistic?). I am more familiar on running pre 2000 Japanese cars (WRX, MX5, Corolla, Demio,…) which all need 6month WOFs and don’t have OBDII so the 118d is quite different. (See my separate post on fixing my disappearing iDrive). The 118d has the ZF 8speed Auto which seems a fantastic gearbox both to use and own/maintain. It is my first auto so hopefully I can get my iDrive back so my left hand has something to do, other than changing the Drive Mode button (another great feature). Do some cars have steering wheel paddles for manual gear changes with these gearboxes? I am not sure about the run flat tyres and I will probably look to change them if that makes sense…..although no spare wheel location. A diesel engine is also a new thing for me, so lots to learn about these and EGR and DPF and dodgy timing chains (or is that just the N47 and not the B47) I am looking to get the engine uprated to 165 kW / 450 Nm at Autoupgrades.co.nz on the North Shore. This would make the 118d almost as quick as my WRX but with half the fuel cost. This is more than just a rechip and seems like excellent value. Although I still need to research brake capacity and transmission strength etc. They also do a gearbox reprogram for the ZF 8 speed for quicker/better changes. When and if I do this I will report back. That’s probably enough waffle from me at this stage and I look forward to using the Bimmersport NZ Forum in the future.

Offering up my 1996 NZ New E36 M3 3.2 Evolution. As much as I love this car, I’m finding I don’t get to use it as much as I’d like ( 2 doors don’t work with young kids). Looking to move to an E90 M3 instead. details: •NZ new •166,000kms •Factory 6 speed manual •Non-sunroof •Aluminium doors •Black leather interior •Near new Bilstein suspension •Plenty of service history Best description of the condition of the car is that it’s a true survivor. It has a few stone chips but not one dent or clear coat fade. It presents very well and would be hard to find another in this condition. Please get in touch if you’d like to view. Car is in Central Auckland. 021 657 522 Thanks, Brad

The irony! Hahaha. Exceptional platform for a head scratching promo car I'd say

Thanks @E30 325i Rag-Top - good intel. I was going to get the 19’s refurbed anyway as the diamond cut finish is wrecked so I could always run round on the 20’s for a month or two. Those aren’t stock tire sizes for the 20’s I don’t think @BMTHUG

Another day, another project on the e30 after work. Today I test fitted my tech 1 boot spoiler and put on my mtech 1 steering wheel. It's amazing what these subtle changes do for the car. Still loving it beyond description. I have listed my F30 up for sale as rising wedding costs are putting pressure on me financially so one of these toys have to go. I also did a mini shoot with my old man's Baur and a clients lachssilber metallic factory manual 325i convertible. Today was a good day!

@balancerider to be honest I didn’t notice a huge difference in terms of ride between 19s with run flats and 20s without on the F30s. The tyres for the 19s were pretty skinny to start with, so not like you are losing a massive amount of sidewall going to 20s. Didn’t need to keep adjusting the suspension settings, but most of it was crawling to work on the commute in comfort with only the odd spirited drive in Sports mode. I might have been in denial as I wanted to stay with the 20s, but even being honest it was hard to tell.

ooof I imagine 20's + non-adaptive m sport suspension + NZ roads is an interesting combo 😬. I've been eyeing up a set of the forged m performance 20's on TM but not sure if I want to go there or not, 30-profile rears may be a step too far.

^^ Yeah I thought that was a great looking car - the 'IS / SE' kit really is subtle and beautiful

Supersprint backbox. Bit louder under throttle + nicer sound. Zero drone. Not annoying at 50 or 100. Expensive for what it does. Wish it had a it more noise tbh but then it would probably be more annoying at motorway speeds. Edit : I'm waiting on an fcpeuro order that looks like it will turn up within a week. Ironically has a mickey mouse flange and hose in it.

Love it, ironically it’s gone from probably from the most polished , detailed and groomed M3 in the country to looking like a well used track hack 😀

If you thought the Sony Carplay tablet install was a bit of a far step from OEM you're gonna love the latest changes to this one.
