Hope everyone is having a good weekend, in spite of the latest installment in the anniversary weekend weather saga. Just testing the waters really before I list the car on Trademe, I'm looking to sell my M3. That old chestnut of genuinely needing something more practical - as it turns out not only do kids grow, so does the amount of gear they accumulate. NZ New, Titan Siver Metallic, black leather interior. Almost complete service history (including new engine at c. 45,000km!... kudos to the original owner), have taken to servicing at indendent specialists following some main dealer misadventures. Originally SMG, converted to manual Dec 2019 (along with install of Karbonius CSL intake) courtesy of Hell BM and KBM. CM Wheels CSL replica alloys (19s) with Michelin Pilot Sport 4Ss. Genuine CSL front brake discs with upgraded mounting brackets. Have original intake and caliper brackets. Special shout out to Tom for his tireless help with this (and subsequent tune), a fountain of knowledge and a true gentleman... I owe you lots of coffee (and two rear shocks!). Recent $6k service (cheers Luke at Skunkworks, Devonport), including powder coating rear subframe, installation of Revshift 80A subframe, trailing arm and diff mount bushes, new battery, diff refurb (by KBM). Subframe has previously been reinforced, both plates and structural foam. To-do list: - Front right headlight occasionally slow to ignite... have a spare headlight, just haven't found the time. - E60 M5 (US spec) gearknob a bit, erm, patina'd. - New brake pads needed (will organise before sale). I have owned the car for 8.5 years, saw heavy use for the first 12 months, more occasional use since the kids arrived. Easily one of the best condition E46s I have seen, and I have seen a lot. If I was looking now, this would be my dream spec - I cannot even begin to stress how transformative the carbon intake is to the overall experience. It literally defines the car. Happy to answer any further questions (either here, [email protected], or on 0211229081). Looking for offers in the region of $42,000. Cheers. Jason.

I have put a bore scope down the plug hole, it wasn't pretty. The lifter is jammed down on that valve so it's hard to see what state the spring is in. Other than removing the cam cover there has been no further disassembly. At any rate I can see how spring failure and valve fatigue would both result in the exact same damage that I have observed thus far. So it could be spring failure on that specific valve.

Yeah you're right @deedub. Just played around with the calculator and looks like it checks out. I've always thought the total sum needs to be under $1k to sail through but looks like it's actually just the item value. I've trimmed down quite a few orders to get them under the $1k limit, needlessly so as it turns out. That's great to know for the future.

I could be missing something. But the last 3 orders I made would have been over the 1k mark if shipping was included. For all of them I used the customs calculator. I think all of them were in the 900 range (purchase price). If you use the calculator on the customs site, you'll see that it calculates GST + duty on the product and GST on the freight. But it waves them all unless you go over 1k on the purchase. 1k is a hard limit though. Like I said maybe I'm missing something or something was done on the vendors side. But all of my recent parts orders would have crossed the 1k mark if shipping was included. And I used the calculator each time to push the orders as close to 1k as possible.

It is right in that sweet spot where everything needs doing. Charge pipe will be brittle and will need an upgrade. Waterpump should be looked at being replaced. It will have or soon will have oil leaks from the valve cover, oil filter housing, oil cooler housing, sump and if you are really unlucky the rear main. Coil packs will be on their last legs. PCV will be an upcoming item. Turbo wastegate rattle is common at this mileage. It will no doubt be a trade in. See if any work has been done already.

FCP used to be good until a few years ago when they switched from FedEX to UPS, feel like the shipping experience has gone down the drain since and now only use them on the rare occasion Spareto or Schmiedmann don't stock the odd part. The latter two tend to be cheaper as well. UPS also use Aramex for the final leg of the delivery which is a disaster in itself. I did tack on a few bits onto @Eagle's FCP order recently and that turned out to be a clusterf**k. Ordered end of November, only got shipped 11th of December, then for some weird reason the package got returned to sender on the 18th, then sent out again on the 20th and finally arrived on the 30th so took a whole month in total. Previous experience with them was back in mid-2023 so not sure if this is a one off or the new normal. At this rate won't be in any rush to use them again any time soon.

Turns out because it was slightly over $1000 $1036, plus $199 shipping, I had to pay duty on it. Even tho I figured that was already in the shipping costs like most places are. So an extra $312 later it’s finally on its way. Which seems far too excessive . Says it’ll arrive on the 31st, so another week to go
