  1. Hey Guys, Maybe I should move into the 21st century I've used shoe polish & 'scuff stuff' to save leather sucessfully [not colourchange] anyway I was given a website www.leatherique.com they aparently can successfully recolour leather.if anyone wants to bring in some of their products I'm willing to offer my services [i'm quite curious]
  2. I know of two others [that got re-inCARnated] they are now NZ V8 Touring cars. [at least they've got better drivers now, most Cops couldn't drive a nail into sand]
  3. DO NOT RE-DYE LEATHER A DIFFERENT COLOUR! Vinyl OK, but not leather. With vinyl you treat it with Methyethylketone [M.E.K] so it soaks the dye right through. You can't do this with leather [it alway's flakes off] It's a NO NO! I was a Motor Trimmer years ago
  4. Does anyone KNOW if the 2.0 liter head will swap over? I have a mint 70k 2.0 in my '36 thats coming out when I sort the head on my M52 [i'd swap heads if they were compatible] [if everyone looked at the "wanted"section on Bimmersport,I was hoping to borrow a M50B20 head to do a flow & measurement comparison! the head can be F**ked for all I care] I don't want to pull a Head off a mint engine,to find out later that it won't work! I have heard that BMW used the same Head castings but lowered the deck/piston clearance on the larger engines to keep the compression ratio around 11:1 CAN ANYONE ENLIGHTEN ME TO THESE RUMOURS?
  5. BravoMike's answer is correct, the crankcase is pressurising because of Blow-by [cylinder pressure leaking past the rings] BMW's do 100's of 1000's of K's without a problem. when this occurs the motor will be tired [RE-RING IT] If you're selling it [old car shark trick] , make an oil separater by jamming some 'Goldilocks' steel wool in the breather line [don't jam it in too tight, you should be able to puff thru it with your mouth] Remember your Crank Seals will be as tired as the Rings
  6. Generally a seized caliper slider acts like a spring [it keeps binding under pressure and then springs back] usually the first sign of a seized slider is tapered wear on the pads If Em'z car is still under Dealer warranty, I'm willing to Bet the pads were changed for WOF and the pistons have seized.[this isn't bad mechanicing by the dealer,it just sometimes happens]
  7. I'm in Tauranga. The M50b20 is owned by an ex- business partner of my brother [They imported a non-compliance E36,and had to part it out] I've heard it running it sounded sweet to me
  8. Alloy heads can be welded. Pull it apart and get a crack tests done I can get a complete non-vanos M50b20 engine for about $500 [you could cannibalise it]
  9. wreckers want $2000.00 for a M50b25, so if yours is a goody it'll have to be worth about that [maybe more] M50b20's are a dime a dozen [there are 2 that are going round & round on trade-me] incidentally I have a M52b28 single vanos in my garage [iron block, complete with loom & 'puter] I'm thinking about increasing her to 3.2litre [just to get the groceries with]
  10. Are you Buying or Selling? Iron or Alloy block? [two schools of thought here, Alloy is lighter but was very troublesome. US & SA used Iron]
  11. BE CAREFUL swapping Racks fom another vehicle. The measurement between the inner rack [ball joints] has to be identical, and the vertical position has to be the same or you end up with BUMP STEER PROBLEMS [toe-in/out changes thru suspension movement] You can buy a steering quickener for the column [planetary gearbox] either 1.5:1 or 2:1 these are available at Cardwell Racing Supplies in Albany 0800 227393
  12. The Problem is a Seized Piston in the Calipers This can happen after new pads are fitted [the piston is squeezed back to fit new pads] Brake fluid is hydroscopic [attracts moisture]so there is usually corosion behind the piston. If the calipers aren't leaking [just seized],you can repair them by cleaning them and fitting a new O-ring kit [you have to use compressed air to push out the pistons, not vice-grips]
  13. Maybe I have lead a too sheltered life in Tauranga. I seem to miss out on all the insane idiots with too much money [and no taste] Did you read the first Question. Someone actually offered him 18-1/2 grand It would be fun [if you could bludge it, not buy it]
  14. There's a guy in Tauranga who said he's using E30 springs in a '36 . [dumps it quite low,but doesn't fix the shortened shock problem] maybe someone out there in Beemerland can confirm whether this works.

    SPAM!

Yeah! He's such a good trusting mate [He won't give me his email address]
  16. Hey Mate, Thanks for the lesson in English. If you are happy with the way your car rides, but just want it lower. Get the springs re-set [about $100-$150] and get your stock shocks shortened.[or try and pick up a used set of M-Spec struts] If you want the ride slightly stiffer, cut the coils back with a cut-off wheel [not a gas set] this was a standard practice for a suspension shop I once worked for [remember you can't un-cut a spring,so be careful]

    SPAM!

I know F**k all about computers [pocket calculaters maybe] , I use XTRA and get ZERO spam. XTRA had this Free spam filter that I now use, 2 out of every 3 emails I received had the word 'SPAM' in brackets attached. What I did was create a 'RULE' in my computer to Automatically delete emails with the word 'spam'.
  18. Being an alloy Head, cracks can be welded then the head planed. you'll need a head set and new head bolts [and the chances are you'll also need a new waterpump as these usually cause the head to get overheated in the first place] If you can do the labour yourself, it's worth doing.[otherwise get a used unit] I have the same situation with a M52 Iron 2.8 Ring Birch Ave Wreckers in Tauranga (07)5782400 They have a non-vanos m50b25 there. Then you can sell your short block after

    Rod Lightening

YEP Bob Mead is one of the best in the Business, I agree with you about polishing Rods [never seen any HP gains] What Gus was asking was about lightening rods. [if you're gonna remove metal, take the stress risers off the beams] Personally I consider polishing a waste of $$$ [when you add all the costs involved ,a set off H-beams ends up cheaper] Horsepwer is Torque x RPM [lightweight rods will allow an engine to rev more, it's the revs that gain the HP,if the engine will flow the increased amount of air]
  20. Patch your '35 and sell it. Theres a factory 535 E34 manual 'floating around the Mount' that can be owned for $4500 deduct the cost off a conversion off that, and see what your car is worth
  21. Hey Anyone Out There in BEEM BEEM Land that can confirm the head differences [apart from the vanos/dual vanos] EWS is post 1996 Also I have an EWS engine loom [manual] does anyone know if I can use a non-EWS DME with it [it would make an engine swap easier for me ]

    Porn Star!

How about: VIAGRA LADA [sounds like a bit of a softcock to me] or: PROZAC CLUBMAN [a nutter]
  23. M52 are usually alloy block [except USA & SA models] S52 is a 3.2l M3 version of the USA M52 [uSA M3 that is, not the Euro M3 which is totally different]
  24. Are your Two Mates "Hot Chicks" by any chance. Seriously though, I might be able to help! I've got a racing partner who has a house One street back from the beach [thats if the divorce lawyers can stay away] Otherwise I have an Exec house in Tga [harbour views blah blah!] I could do something. email me sometime
