  1. This problem is caused by too stiff rear springs [ It gets worse with an open diff, so most people fit an LSD to hide the problem ] You need to soften the rear to transfer more traction to the rear [ squat ] or to fix mid-corner oversteer if this is a problem. If the car then starts pushing [ understeer ] the "roll-couple" can be dialed back in with a 'rear anti-roll bar' which doesn't effect front to rear weight transfer [ or suspension frequency ] Suspension frequency is cycles per second [ the faster you go, the more cycles per second ] frequency is a ratio between stiffness and load [ via geometry etc ] A lighter car with the same spring stiffness has a higher spring frequency
  2. Haha! Spoken in a language that gets the message across The best wheel allignment guys are the guys that tinker with Formula Fords [ there was a guy in Newmarket years ago that ran an allignment shop that was a F/F racer ] Many flaws in a car can be "fudged" [ talk to the "Rally Car" boys about this ] All you need is someone with knowledge and pride in his workmanship. Remember "Time is Money" don't expect miracles for $25-00
  3. Ron, I'll take you up on that drink one day!! stiffer springs suit higher speeds and bumpy tracks [ smooth tracks don't require much springing at all ] stiff springs are used to increase the spring frequency but can also increase the roll stiffness , weight transfer is constant for the same G's even if the speed has increased [ eg: high speed corners vs hairpins ] so you might need to back off the bar a bit [ unless you needed to increase the roll stiffness ] Less body roll also needs less negative camber
  4. Keep the forum going as it is !! Just try and censor some of the offensive language. Remember public TV can be very liberal with language so if it's OK to use on public TV it's OK with me. What I don't like is abusive PM's or spam [ but we've had a bit of fun with a thread about "viagra" spam ] Human nature being what it is, We all try and "pull status quo" on each other. We all wan't to organize things to suit ourselves, but unfortunately we can't because we are all different. Some people dislike Drifters, some dislike Boy Racers some say "Restoring is Boring" etc etc The perils of time sort things out . Over time the wankers will move on [ but so will some good members as well ] I am also guilty of dishing out a bit of sh*t , so I can expect it back [ it's just a bit of fun ] but I also try and help out when I can [ we all need saving from Gus's hammer ] Just Keep the forum going as it is !!
  5. HaHa! all my traits are out. Reminds me about the favorite sexual position for married couples "Doggystyle" Yeah! He sits up and begs and she rolls over and plays dead

    bellmouth?

It wasn't advice mate! total sarcasm intended. I see people that think a "big-bore, chip, & Pod" can get 100% gains. personally, all I would do is put a K&N element into the stock "box". If a motor can't rev any more because it's starved of air, then look at ways to get more air into it. Are you really revving it all the time? Or are you breathing a bigger engine through it? Horsepower is the size of the bang x the number of bangs per minute [ "Keith Duckworth of Cosworth Fame" ]
  7. 91 non-vanos has an alloy thermostat housing [ which both hoses are attached to ] It's behind there. don't just pull the thermostat because of overheating ,E36's have a bad reputation for shitting the waterpump and also some morons out there [gas station pump jockeys] don't know about bleeding the air from the cooling system
  8. Haha! Once a westy always a westy. You're better off beating the crap out of a GT replica than a real one Mustang Notchbacks make good donor cars for cheap race cars [ they handle better than falcons even though they have the same floorpan ]
  9. The real problem is the engine capacity

    bellmouth?

Why f**k around with this on the intake? Just hacksaw off your muffler and weld this to the exhaust. You'll notice a huge improvement in driving skills [ trying to get away from the police ]

    93 E36?

I would suggest taking Glenn's advice " get it scanned first and go from there " If you can't do that, get someone from this forum [ not me ] to come 'round and check the "rotor and dizzy cap" seriously though! if the battery failed, none of the lights would glow on the dash. E36's can have fuel pump problems [ as well as a host of others ]
  12. Yeah! I agree, Nuke Manakau!
  13. Personally, I would like to built such a project. But you wouldn't want to use old technology as the Meremere plant. All I need now is to get my fingers into Govt funding and away I go One of the methods of cleaning up Coal [ for power generation ] is to run it through a gasifier to produce "syngas" [ H2CO ] When this Syngas burns with O2 you end up with H2O & CO2 [ very clean ] Texaco built a Gasification plant many years ago just to clean up landfills [ the by-product was electricity ] Read the front page of todays Herald about burning plastic bags ,A plastic Bag has about the same BTU content as Fuel Oil [ and can be cleaned up easily ] Hey Glenn, sorry about misreading your reply before. The real cock-up was when the Lange govt went nuclear free
  14. It isn't a cock-up! Most Steam-Turbine generators use a "Rankine" [closed] cycle where the water [ or in some cases ammonia ] is superheated [ it can be via nuclear / coal / oil etc ] then it goes through a turbine / generator then it is cooled again to be recirculated Most of the "smoke" you see from smoke-stacks is steam from the cooling cycle [ most power plants are located near a water supply for cooling ] Nuclear energy [ heat fission ] is very cheap but also very inefficient. Only about 3% of the BTU content is converted to Electricity. A gas turbine with a steam turbine [ powered of the exhaust heat ] is about 65% efficient
  15. Comparing "Nuclear power with a Nuclear bomb" is like comparing an "open fire with dynamite" Yes we can all be fooled with fear an ignorance [ I hope I don't get burned at the stake for this ] The most dangerous common element on this planet is "People" [ the world is under threat while there is a breeding pair of humans ] check this out about a little bit of knowledge in the wrong hands http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_boy_scout

    Veitchy

Veitchy ain't in the same league as "Jake the Muss" One very important thing has been revealed during all this bullshit. Veitchy paid her "Compensation" for her injuries, but she still made a claim with ACC ACC only pay compensation for losses incurred due to injury [ so either ACC or Veitch are entitled to a refund ] No wonder she has buggered off overseas
  17. Haha! too true. I fit in this category somewhere. I'm the cheap B**stard that capitalised on the misfortune / mistake of another. Q: what's the difference between a BMW and a Tampon? A: BMW's are for A**holes an old car dealer joke from years ago [ sizing up punters ]
  18. It's the Tyre! Firstly the suspension always binds when it is jacked up, but always settles when the car is rolled back and forth [ so this is normal ] Have you ever looked at those old "Tyre rotation" charts [ where the LH tyres must be rotated on the LH side ] Also check all the tyre pressures [ after the tires are warm ] If one of the tyres is slightly larger in diameter because of pressures / wear the car will be "Wedged" which plays hell on handling [ especially with LSD's or lots of Caster ] This is why racecars can adjust the ride height [ with corner weight scales ] ps: I forgot "always remember to check the distributor cap" haha!
  19. 65 GB a month and you have a Race Car!!! You mustn't have any time left to hold down a job Whats your secret?
  20. All very nice picking on easy targets like a crappy ol' Dodge Daytona [ Not the NASCAR homologation special ] Now all we need is a reliable shredder for tyres [ all the shredders I have looked at can't cut tyres without problems ] If anybody knows of any. let me know
  21. Hahaha! I took your advice and checked the Dizzy Cap and Rotor Arm on my E36 [ the damm thing has been stolen!!! ] No wonder my Beemer is slower than my Big Block Corvette Maybe I should look at fitting a "mallory twin point" and a "Holley" to my M50 engine [ plus some fuzzy dice on the mirror ]
  22. I have a pair sitting in the palm of my hand right now! They both have the part number 11086344 on the back. pm me your email number if you wanna see a pic of them cheerz Kerry
  23. Hey , I only posted that site just to show that there are people out there who specialize in cheating.[ it can be fun ] Word of caution about matching ports to gaskets!!!!!!!!!! this is 1960's hotrod DIY technology. I've seen gasket matched "heads and manifolds" flow less than stock on a flowbench. WHY? because most "expert" porters usually grind a nice smooth taper from the gasket into the port [ Bell Mouth ] Put this "Back to Back" with a manifold that is also "Bell Mouthed" and you have the opposite of a Venturi [ which slows down velocity ] Use some "machinists blue" and match the manifold to the head [ and make sure the hole in the gasket doesn't interfere ] It is OK for the intake manifold to be slightly smaller than the port, or the exhaust manifold to be larger than the port it helps with anti- reversion [ some header manufacturers put anti-reversion cones on the flanges ]
  24. Thank you my friend. We'll have to get together and test out who's got the best [ or worse ] rev limiter again I've been in South China for the past 6 months, I have a new found respect for Asian Drivers [ especially Taxi drivers ] Mind you they don't understand the concept of driving sideways cheers
  25. "Yeah, and lowered E30's don't have a reputation for wiping out the sump and pickup." Accusumps are great for "priming" up oil pressure on cold starts [ if you shut the valve before switching off the engine ] Accusumps are also great for unwinding a turbo after switching off the engine [ if you don't shut the valve before switching off the engine ] They are a cheap insurance [ the yanks love them on "Claimer" engines, because they are part of the vehicle so they don't get claimed ]
