I've been told some SA ones came with the med case, and have broken one that had one, but of course it may have been retrofitted.
-
You are right Chris, some of the cars do run with the med case, mainly the 320's, because they need the weight, the 318's don't, so they seem to stick with the small case ones. You can use either in the series, they are both 4.1 so no worries there. Because they mainly came with the small case that's the one most do use, I haven't heard of any breaking yet due to natural causes, and I know of someone putting 200 plus rwhp thru one.

I run a 4.1 LSD in the E28 and agree it's the way to go with the overdrive manual box in a race car. The car becomes so much more responsive, and you can keep the engine in the right rev range very easily. The race series usually run the small case diffs, so there isn't that much demand for the med case 4.1's, you can just transfer the ring and pinion to your med case from most pre 94 med case ones.

pretty sure Andre's 1.04.022 is Puke best, and Mike's 1.41.428 is Taupo's. If you're thinking open class BMW by any chance, then E28 turbo has to be the best bang for dollar you can do at the moment. My car weighs in at 1240kg, and with the right turbo option on the M30 can go 450 plus hp at the wheels, making it quite a weapon. Bring on next year. I have a new M30 n/a for January meet, and hope to have 220 rwhp, and be able to do 1.08 to 1.09 at Puke. If you compare the E28 weight with the other BMW's, it's pretty light, and as Alpina did the Turbo thing with them they have said they will allow E28 Turbos, got to be good for 1.03 to 1.04 surely at Puke?

Can do a full manual conversion for the M40 for $600 if you're interested? Used but good clutch, flywheel, pressure plate ond thrust bearing, driveshaft, second hand box from good car, clutch and brake pedals on bolt. master and slave cylinders, but would suggest getting new ones.

Happy Birthday Mr Timms, your shout at Manfeild.

If it's a 1900cc as per the listing then it's the later engine, not genuine E30 M42, they were all 2 door 1800's.
-
I have a couple of them if anyone's interested? Clocks instead of rev counters that is.

Make mine the hyper black as well thanks Jono, will get back to you if I decide to go for a gold set as well.
