  1. You'll be fine with the rear. The fronts, you'll need a spring compressor to do them once you've got the struts out.
  2. Not really dangerous...they're only teasers...the do'ers are the dangerous ones EDIT: So I've beed told
  3. I just hope all of us BS members are going to be invited.... PS. I know some "cock teasers" would they be ok ???
  4. I would have to agree on that too
  5. Sounds like a motor drive is broken. The seat would have to come out to repair it. Best solution would be to take it to the nearest independent repairer or dealer. Not sure who that is in Wanganui though.
  6. The DME, EGS & ABS might not talk to each other. Try ringing Wayne Frost @ EFI Tech on the North Shore Ph. 4155559 or 0212884837

Cat overheat... get the cat removed and have a dog fitted at Pistop Edit: only if it comes on while driving. With ignition on and not going it stays on to do a self check when started.
  8. Where is the expansion tank on your car Ollie ??? EDIT: Yours doesnt have one
  9. BMW use a special tool to tension the belt, worth $$$ ..... I use experience You shouldnt over tighten it. The rule of thumb is....you should be able to turn the belt 90 degrees on the driven side ( intake side ) Do you have a workshop manual or the correct instructions for doing this ?? If you dont get the timing right.....YOU WILL DAMAGE SOMETHING
  10. Totaly agree with Josh here. Doesnt matter what model BMW ( or any car for that matter ) you intend to buy, get a pre-purchase inspection done by either the agent or a independent repair specialist that works on the make & model vehicle you intend to purchase......NO EXCEPTIONS.... remember it's "buyer beware" and before you hand over your hard earned cash.....GET IT CHECKED !!!!
  11. Ooops I thought you were in Aucks
  12. No..... put an oil pressure guage on and check the oil pressure or just put a new oil pressure switch on....could be the switch, especially if the switch is leaking

  14. If its not giving you any problems.....leave it It could just be the guage you used or the way you did it. We always loosen spark plugs, start car, remove spark plugs and do compression test with wide open throttle. This stops and carbon getting under a valve and giving a false reading. Try it at full throttle...you might get a better reading or try someone elses guage
  15. The reading is a bit low, but that would depend on the guage that your using and how you did it. 5% variation in M10 is acceptable, but nothing more than 5%. I wouldnt want a variation on a later model car though.
  16. It will only read and cancel codes Not much use to us, specialising in the work we do You need live data read outs as well so you can see whats happening in real time. Our Bosch scanner allows us to check a fault and go straight to diagnosis data and repair data.
  17. They are chain driven
  18. I totaly agree with you here I have two scanners one cost $8,000 the other $10,000 Upgrades cost me approx $3,000 a year for both Plus we have 4 wireless computers which have to be maintained. One has 60 gig of technical info which I would hate to loose. We'd be buggered without it....you can't remember everything. One of the scanners is mobile, so that you can read live data while driving ( two people required ) We normaly charge $40 for a scan + $75 an hour for diagnostic time. If its just a scan and report its $40 People just think that because you plug it into their car and give them an answer to their problem ( it might take 5 min) that they shouldn't pay for it
  19. Give me a call and I'll check it for you....... I drink Lion Red Cheers Glenn
  20. I have a facelift towbar for sale $100 with all the instructions for installation( E30 facelift )
  21. Fix the transmission or go manual
  22. As I said.....get it scanned
  23. You will need to get it scanned. Being a TI it will be either M42 or M44. Its more likely to be the camshaft position sensor ( common fault ).......DONT fiddle.......get it scanned first
  24. The belt is the wrong size...problem solved
