Most of us here have heard similar stories. There are reasons for being sensible, listening to others and driving within the law

I get an instrument repairer to do mine, not to dear and 100% garantee

My previous post is not intended to insult our new member 318mouse who started this thread. If you need to fix the problem ring Johno (zenetti) get the right advise and do it properly, or put up with excessive tyre wear= $$$$$ You cant have it both ways... too low (illegal)= tyre wear + $$$$ Lowered properly (legal)= minimal tyre wear + less $$$$ in the long run End of story

+1 its the same crap every week. Dont know how many times this has been discussed. Half of the idiots will only look cool in a coffin. Its quite funny the number of people in here that ask for advise....and then dont bother to listen. And I know this has been said before too. BMW AG spend millions developing safety and handling. Why would you get one of their cars and totally f**k it up. Cant understand the logic in all that. I dont think that the sencible people in here, who are true enthusiasts of BMW's support this crap. I think there are other forums for that kind of nonsense..... I heard you get lessons in reform school & jail Just my 2 cents worth Glenn<<<<< one of the labeled "old farts"

I'm still after a late model Getrag 260/6 for my project car. Must fit an M30 E34 (120mm between the 2 top bolt holes) I bought a 260/5 out of an E28.. but I want the 260/6. The 260/5 is for sale if anyone wants it
-
How much for the gearbox ??

Not all the time. Get it scanned first. If your car has a AFM and not a AMS it could also be the the vane sticking in the housing (common problem). You can open them and clean them out....but its best left to someone who knows what they are doing. AFM= Air flow meter....vane type AMS= Air mass sensor.. hotwire type

Dont mind at all...go for it Every bit of info helps Cheers Glenn

M10's...are like 10-15 yrs ago The m30 has an 8 bolt crank flange I think M10 is 6. I dont think engine balance would be correct without balancing as well. M10"s arent motronic either... so a Link ECU would need to be used. An engineer could make one for you. Would cost a bit though. 60-2 tooth system. So long as it was accurate. M20 radiator and expansion tank would help and so would diode switching for the AC electric fan if it has one...or get one

Sorry...small case and yes it is a good one. Out of my 318 TI. I've driven with it in. The 3:64 is medium case

All depends on the brand of spoiler. Aftermarket ones normally have 2 screws that hold the light cluster in the spoiler. Have a good look, shouldnt be hard to do. Post a picture.

The guage gets its vacuum signal from the AFM (load) there is no vacuum connection, its only an electrical signal from the AFM.

If it has an EGR valve and air pump (electric) thats what you will be hearing. Not all 318's have them though. Its located on the drivers side by the radiator. When the EGR valves pack up, moisture gets into the pump and damages the bearings. This makes the noise louder. They also have an air filter located on the other side of the radiator (passengers side). Take the hose (plastic clipped hose) of the EGR valve that goes to the air pump with the engine running (warm) and see if the EGR valve is spitting out moisture or exhaust fumes. It shouldnt do that. Hope you can make sence of that Cheers Glenn

Water should flow through the two hoses on the left. Use compressed air and gently blow through them and check if they are blocked. The hoses normally block at the engine end. Take them off there and make sure the fittings they are attached too arent blocked and the hoses arent blocked as well. Just use a small screw driver to unblock them.

The guage gets its signal from the AFM (load signal) it could be a problem there or it might be the circuit board in the dash. Does the car run properly ?? and does your SI (service indicator) work properly in the dash, does the fuel guage or temperature guage flicker or move around too ??

Dont rely on that "inspection". Get it checked by an authorised dealer or an independant BMW specialist. People who work on these cars will have a better understanding of what to look for, and what goes wrong. The old saying "buyer beware" be very aware, and dont take things on face value. Buy a warranty from them, it is one of the best and underwritten by Vero...no excess would apply for that vehicle. But first get it thoroughly checked out. Cheers Glenn

You could also try Vercoe radiators in Newmarket...ask for Maurice. They have done tanks for me before. There phone number is 5248028
