Diff_mod.bmp Diff_mod_2.bmp Diff_mod_3.bmp Diff_mod_4.bmp We rushed this last Monday without doing the mods.....should not have done this Never, ever assume and take your time......we are always learning Anyway, its all done now (properly) and I'm pleased with the result Picture 1 shows the indents you have to do to the chassis rail with a small ball pein hammer- takes a bit of time to get it neat and tidy. Picture 3 shows were you have to grind off about 5mm from the forward, rear hangar mount bracket so that it doesnt touch the diff cassing Picture 4 the end result.... no gear noise transfer and no vibration... spare wheel just clears the speed sensor when fitted. Cheers Glenn
  4. Is the rubber boot over the micro switch fitting correctly ??? This will cause it not to work. Take the number plate off and flick the switch out. Check the rubber boot for correct fitting and check the micro switch operation. The boots get pushed in because people force them in when lifting to trunk open. Hope that helps Cheers Glenn

Yes it does..the whole conversion has been done with all genuine factory parts, except the exhaust, pod filter, strut brace, H&R springs and Bilstein F&R shocks. Everything needed was BMW OEM. We even split the diagnostic systems. If you scan the vehicle, body systems, SRS & ABS come up as 318TI, DME & EGS come up as 328I with all the appropriate info & data. I really enjoyed doing this....learnt alot too & still learning On that note we had to take the medium case diff out again yesterday. It was touching the rear body chassis rail directly above the diff. We have pressed indents into this rail to give clearance for the diff breather and top housing bolts to stop the transferr of gear noise through the car. Should be sweet now.... thought the diff was nackered. We are also fitting new axle bearings too....just as a precaution. I'll pop a couple of pictures up later today Cheers Glenn
  9. Once again....thanks guys for the nice comments I dont mind how you want to contact me Yuen...work hours are fine After hours is ok too & the weekends if your in trouble As I said my mobile is 24/7.....but please I do sleep...( some think I dont ?? ) 6.00 am - 7.30 pm is fine I also agree that naming names is not the way to go.... for those who have done this...I'm still here if you need help The only reason I posted this was to make people realise how this can effect businesses that they might deal with. Including mine..... I'm not upset about this or offended..... Ive said my piece...lets just all get on with it Enjoy our cars and our great forum Cheers Glenn
  10. Well done...hope its all worked out for you Cheers Glenn Would like to see more pics tho
  11. Thankyou Simon & Bravo ( sorry...old farts disease I forgotten your name ) I really appreciate your nice comments I was not intending this to bring out any negativity. Just asking for a little respect and courtesy Sometimes people just dont "THINK" Anyway...lets all get on with the great forum we have here Any questions or help needed Just ring me Ph. (09) 2722546 (work)... 7.00am-4.30pm ( thats a lie tho ) or 021921377....24/7 ( but please.....I do sleep.....truley I do ) Cheers Glenn
  12. Hi Guys First of all I'd just like to say that since joining this forum I have enjoyed the interaction I've had with alot of members in here. From a personal and a business point of view. I'm very pleased to be in a position where I can help, advise and pass on information that I have learnt over the many years I have been in business.....and I must say I enjoy doing it to. I dont know every thing there is to know about all BMW's or other makes because you are always learning new things everyday. But I am here to help or give advise where to look if you need something. I am not trying to be negative here..... but I am getting a little peeved off with "time wasters"...... my time As I said, I'm happy to help anyone, but from a business point of view my time & my staffs time = $$$ = my living If you want help, just ask. However I cannot fix your car for $25 an hour. Our retail workshop charge out rate is $75 + GST and I'm happy to give 10% discount of labour & parts to forum members. And I can give bigger discounts on non genuine parts depending on what items they might be or who the supplier is. If I was working from home with no overheads ( which I have never done ) things would be different. If you book your car in with my workshop, either turn up or phone and say you cant make it and rebook it, if thats what you want to do. We are always busy here and I have to allow "time" to carry out repairs in a reasonable time period...depending on the nature of the repair. And we are normally booked 3-4 days in advance. Any failures or drop ons will be fitted into our daily schedule to try and help out our customers in a reasonable time frame. Courtesy costs nothing, if you book in here.....turn up or ring me ( your allowed to tell lies if someone else has fixed it ) Cheers Glenn PS To the forum moderaters If this thread starts any negativity....which is not my intention. Please delete this thread.

Manual mode was an option in some E36 325, 328 & 318 Auto Coupe's Instead of *ice mode In manual it uses 2nd, 3rd & 4th gears including lock up ( Jatco Trans ) It doesnt use first unless under extreme load and doesnt use 5th gear unless you hit the rev limit in 4th Yes I will be selling the car.... once I start on the new project The wireless mic works with the new Sony 80gig digi Cam Corder I bought...you can use it up to 30 meters away from the camera Cheers Glenn
  14. I really have no idea.... the pod filter shouldnt have caused a problem However, I would take the AC belt off and see if the problem is still there The AC pump could be giving issues If it is still playing up with no AC drive belt, I would then get it scanned..... go to Toyota Live data load & kg/air readings may be up the sh*t and will not always trigger the engine check light If the DME is getting a signal, even tho it is out of calibration, it will not trigger a fault code because it is still working Air mass sensor faults will normally only come up with a fault code if its not working or if mixture has reached lower or upper limits, it will trigger an oxy sensor fault and/or fuel trim limit has been reached fault code Air mass sensors are known to fail sometimes when disturbed...especially on Audi's & VW's Thats why I always advise guys fitting pod filters to make sure they are firmly mounted Alot of pod filters have flimsy mount brackets. Unlike air flow meters ( vane type ) air mass sensors ( hot wire ) dont like vibration. Hope this helps Cheers Glenn
  15. If its a 318I touring, munroe are fine 320, 325...use Boge' OEM from SAS Ring me for info Cheers Glenn
  16. As above ( small case ) new side seals and oil Diff is in excellent order....no noises Out of my car Comes with both axles too (ABS rings) Will fit E30 318 or E36 318TI Offers around $350 Cheers Glenn
  17. Ooops.. I forgot about this too ( its been a while ) If its running a Kat ( fit a dog ) Then disconnect sensor and either recode DME to NZ spec non Kat or get another DME ( which ever is the cheapest ) has to be non Kat tho Idle surging was a problem with these...especially 325's Cheers Glenn
  18. lol I'm always at work about 5.00 in the mornings Shhhhhh about that tho Dont want customers here at this hour

    My E36 318 TI

Just an update Yesterday we removed the small case 3.91:1 diff and TI axles Checked the diff I bought, thanks to Ray @ HellBMW and fitted new side seals The new diff is an open 3.64:1 medium case out of an E30 325I, the original donor car ..a E36 328I Coupe ran the 3.64:1 diff as well....so it all matches up now We fitted the E30 ABS axles and fitted the diff... a little tight under there with the spare but I'm sure theres enough clearance. Swapped the speedo sensors ( different pins ) Caution doing this... the ABS rings on the E30 axles are slightly larger in diameter Removed ABS sensors first and after fitting calculated the spacing...1.5mm washer under the mount Refilled with full synthetic 75w/90 and a road test. Much better to drive now and still heaps of grunt Load signal ( air mass sensor ) and speed sensor (gearbox) are compatible now and I dont need to drive around in sports mode all the time. A good thing with this, it doesnt have "ice" mode...the trans has manual mode instead Economy....Sports and manual Was well worth the effort Just the tacho to get sorted now ( next week maybe ) Looks good tho......it hits the rev limiter @ 9,500rpm Should do a vid using my wireless microphone for exhuast sounds.....there was a guy on youtube that did that Cheers Glenn
  20. If its motronic....try another idle valve or clean out your old one with carb cleaner If its MEII.....check the cold start air slide under the manifold You would also need to check the TPI switch Thats all after you have checked for air leaks Idle fuel mixture might be too rich as well Should be 2% Co at idle + or - .5% with about 150-200 Hc ( with our super fuel) The book says 1% = or - .5%....thats a little too lean tho You need to set at the lowest Hc where it idles the smoothest You might need an auto tech to do this tho Air flow meter could also be sticking on the sliding vane or spring tension may need to be altered.... these are getting old now Cheers Glenn
  21. Thanks I might just have to do that Cheers
  22. At this stage I'm still waiting for my customer to buy his new car so I can get the 318 of him I bought the 325 Coupe on friday, I'm using this for bits: Rear sub frame, engine oil cooler, wiring loom for battery in boot, tacho, TechII steering wheel, expansion tank, radiator & mounts, adjustable fuel pressure regulator (needs a seal kit) and a few other bits & pieces The project will get up and running as soon as I get the car Still doing a bit of research so I can get it all together Thanks guys for the offer of parts I need I'll keep everyone in mind when I start shopping Cheers Glenn BTW..my E36 318TI M52B28 is getting another diff this week. I was running a small case 3.91:1 but I'm installing a medium case 3.64:1 and axles thanks to Ray @ HellBMW...also getting the tacho sorted. I'm still running the original 4 cyl. Auto Electronic Services in Takanini are going to sort it for me. I cant use the 6 cylinder dash in my car. I tried, seems like all the pin configerations are different. I'll be selling this car as soon as I start on the new project.
