Do I need a Cert if I bring a Car in on Aftermarket Coilovers?
*Glenn* replied to fred_'s topic in General Discussion
You may have issues with compliance once it gets here. I suggest you fit them here after compliance and get a cert. In the long run it will be less hassle. -
Has Michael been able to help you with this Chris ??

Maybe... but why ??

Is the alternator supply ( large terminal) connected to the battery... and is the alternator exciter wire getting supplied 12 v with ignition on ??... If so ... what is the charge rate ?.... it should be around 14v with engine running at the battery. You might even have a knakered battery
-
If the engine was running before stripping... I would asume it's been pulled apart in the wrong sequence by a person with limited knowledge to carry out this type of work... no offence intended... you don't learn these things in 5 minutes...especially if you do it for the first time without a knowlegeable person helping you. I agree with checking the above ^^^ but it won't cause a valve to touch a piston unless there is something more seriously wrong... and it wouldn't effect one valve... it would effect at least 3, 4 6 or 12 if the engine was running.

Yes it is Will... Thank you

My eldest daughter, Kerrin has asked me to post this up Hi Friends, Family & Bimmersporters I have just started up a new company called Kaus, making fashionable hats for people suffering hairloss due to Chemotherapy from Cancer. If you could please check out my website http://www.kaus.co.nz/ or please pass this on to anyone who you think would benefit from my hats, it would be much appreciated. My website lets you purchase the hats online and $1 is donated to either the Breast Cancer Society or the NZ Cancer Society, how I started and about me wanting to hear from people and their stories. If you know any health professionals who you think could pass this on to their patients or organisations that you think would benefit from these products please pass it on. Hope you are all well! Luv Kerrin

Remember that satellite that recently was gonna drop a 500 kgs chunk ..... somewhere - maybe Canada , maybe India , maybe Washington State .... but it was gonna fall "somewhere"? And, there was "only a 1/3200 chance" that it would injure somebody? Then, NASA announced that it had fallen to earth, but they didn't know where? Well, here's the straight skinny. http://wimp.com/nasasatellite/

What's the actual problem with this car ??... what does checking the rear mounts have to do with the problem ?? BTW: Rear shocks are not struts. Rear shock mounts are not top hats
-
Take the shocks with mounts out and check them off the car

Tony Lyford, Service Manager Team McMillan BMW.. A new dealership memo has recently come out regarding the policy on this.

I understand that you get it repaired by an authorised dealer here, pay for it and seek reimbursement from the company that originally sold it back in the UK..... I may be wrong though. Just found out .... Vehicle must have all servicing & repairs carried out by a BMW Dealer. Any warranty repairs must be paid for by the owner. These are submitted back to BMW and the owner gets reimbursed for the amount BMW AG think is applicable.
