  1. I think you will find all E30's have a tint - either brown or green although only subtle BTW Cheers Cain for the info - very interesting
  2. Not sure what you have done here. If spacer was on crank side then flywheel would be further away & make the problem worse -starter pinion mesh would be shallower. Starters are the same - manual to auto & early (big) to late (small) -either fit all. Pinion size is smaller on late unit but it is offset closer to center in front bracket so meshes the same. One thought - Did the flywheel seat properly when bolting up to the crank?
  3. Who said manuals were hard? - its the auto's that are a pain. I use Castrol VMX 5 speed - seems good
  4. Are both ends out or just one? Both could indicate switch or similar, if only one then wiring to or connection/ bulb connections - or 3 crook bulbs.... if no luck & not really sure what you are dong - probably best to see a sparky - probably only a 10 min fix Cheers
  5. Bloody a..holes!! - what a cheek, I would certainly be wanting them to "prove it was me" & show them your evidence to combat theirs. Good luck!
  6. Not entirley true, sure 100w are brighter but it is the glare that dazzles oncomers. If set correctly on a beamsetter - the 100's dont create any more glare than 55 (can measure this on beamsetter meter) Agreed though OE headlights are fine when clean, (inside & outside) if they arent, no matter what size bulb -you fit wont fix light output. Also agreed - DONT fit higher wattage bulbs, you may be able to improve on standard halogen however by fitting zenon ultras - still 55w but whiter brighter light output than standard

    What can I do?

Pinched some of my TM parts pics for his listings too by the looks
  8. Havent done one but it can be. PM me for details Cheers Grant
  9. Hi, Welcome to forum. Firstly, no your present radio cant be changed to NZ BUT a replacement tuner (in rear of car) can be a plug & play to work perfectly in NZ. You current one is Jap specific. World programable tuners came out in BMW's in 2001 onwards, before then they were market specific - ie Jap, USA, Europe/Australasa. I have a tuner at present to suit your car for NZ reception & can help with nav conversion too - have seen through many conversions in these cars. PM me for details Cheers Grant
  10. Then what are you going to use in place of Paul - a pushbike?
  11. Could also be a slipping pinion clutch in the starter - this problem can give some wierd noises, either way - starter needs to come off to check.
  12. DONT!!!! do that - if not already stuffed - you run a serious chance of doing exactly that. If you have already done & it kept running then you are bloody lucky & there MAY not be anything wrong with the alt. Doesn't discount a possibility of a problem in it though. Seriously, with your apparent lack of knowledge (no offense) in this area then your best bet is take it to an auto sparky - it's only a 2 min job to confirm the problem with tools/ knowledge
  13. Since Jochen hasn't yet seen: My car is the same as yours but with NZ nav working - the first to be done. Remove the Jap unit, reterminate required wiring to fit new plugs suiting the MK4, run one wire to reverse light for reverse signal. Fit Mk4, NZ map disc & play -easy. 16:9 monitor is a plug & play swap from 4:3 - I have one arriving very shortly for mine. You also, however need to replace the video (TV) module with a later dual version as your current unit is 4:3 only. PM me if you want more details, I, like Jochen, have seen through lots of conversions in these cars around the country although him a few more than myself. Grant Sorry just seen - UK import. Similar will apply though - MK 1/2 units have different wiring plugs to Mk3/4 units, probably has reverse signal already too. From memory - I think there is a an adapter lead available to plug between old & new version units.
  14. Hi, Welcome to site, can help on nav & reversing camera. PM me or 027 6146607 Cheers Grant

    e46 trouble

Codes should be stored in the realitive ECU's memories so take car to a dealer or any auto sparky/mechanics that have a scanner able to talk to the car -most sparkys should -if any good.
  16. Can be done OK but as David already said -easier to get a car with - unless you have a car out of the ordinary. Also probably uneconomic unless you can do the changeover yourself - you need all window regulators/motors, switches, wiring (manual car not wired for). Sunroof can be converted OK too - I have done one myself for a guy -about 2 -3 hrs work. Requires a replacement rack/motor/switch assy - the most involved part is changing the rack assys over. I can supply parts for you to retrofit if you require but again - unless you can do yourself then probably uneconomic
  17. sh*t, I think hens teeth may be more common than that want. Good luck though
  18. Wouldn't ya love to do that in an E30 series race car Might even quicken the time Ha Ha!
  19. Agreed entirely with Yuen - you'll be heading back to that "riced" look. Great as it is & Im not a great fan of chromes normally.
  20. First for me too - more subtle!
  21. Probably unrelated problems. No start - I would say you have a flat battery which may also cause a random code otherwise as said - more likely brake light switch crook.

    Rear view mirror

BTW I'm not telling!! That means yourself
  23. Should try & tee that up aye
  24. Cheers guys, just tripped over it on Ebay, had known of them but never seen one available. Just had to have:- Haven't seen a mirror mount version for sale but no doubt this is a hell of lot cheaper - cost about $145 NZ all up inc wiring plug/harness since my car not wired for it. Tee'd up the wiring required at the centre dome light & drivers vanity light so an easy install. Yuen: No reason the rear view mirror version couldn't be fitted although it would complicate as the Jap IR remote receiver is also on the mirror on mine. You give me the M5 & i'll fit one to it You dont see the Jappers coming out with practical ideas like this & it's about 10yr old technology for BMW Anyone can fit this as long as your remote works on the same/similar frequency - no idea how many out there do Cheers Grant
