How do you tihnk these will look on an E39?
hotwire replied to a13antichrist's topic in General Discussion
I agree, nice wheels but probably more E36 look rather than 39 IMO -
Damaged car, front right was smashed - pity to waste 3 of them. Have checked Schnitzer sites on the net with no luck for 15". Mike, Good thought -havent checked Oseas forums yet
-
Have you lubed the check strap too?

I have 3 of these alloys in 15x7 Anyone know of a source for a 4th to make a set?? Cheers Grant

As we know - very hard to come by. I have sold previously on TM for $260 - 275 for crack free

Welcome aboard Andy

To clarify regulations: If ANY lights are fitted they DO have to work & comply. This is dependent on WOF testers diligence with inspection as to whether non going will be noted. If switch is faulty then it is service by replacement, probably have to get genuine new as you will be unlikely to obtain a S/H one - are generally considered as part of the box.

Wheel diameter question for upgrading E39
hotwire replied to a13antichrist's topic in Wheels & Tyres
225/60 15" are standard fit (mine had), 528i had 16" I fitted 235/40 18"s to mine which were from memory only 5mm different in overall rolling diameter to the 15" originals -
From your initial description - firing while on full thottle -sounds like it is simply flooded. Can do this if cranking to slowly where it is still fueling the engine without burning it. With good battery power try holding "full throttle" while cranking, holdind down until it clears & runs before easing off. If no go after 45 - 60 seconds of continuous cranking, remove all plugs & dry them, pull the coil HT lead from the distributor & earth out. Then with full throttle crank the engine for 10 -15 seconds to clear, refit plugs (& lead) & it should go. Good luck

Haven't you always wanted to log your road trip?

As Jochen says - no comparison between the fully intergrated factory system & an on dash add on, the only benefit of the latter being that it is transferable between vehicles. The factory system blows the navman etc units to the weeds. Again, as we have both proven - it is cost efficient to convert a vehicle with existing system but not so to install from scratch - hense buy car with existing. -
PM Jochen - He may be able to help with tuner

Definitely wont be the flasher unit - they are ign supplied & also is before indicator switch so will not bring all lamps on. Will be alarm issue - either unit or wiring to it.

I dismantled a while ago an 88 320 auto (pre facelift NZ new) which had a 3.64 small open in it, appeared to be factory too, sorry dont still have though.

Gus, The wiring is a loop from the dash through both sensors back to the dash. Wont be a short to earth but an open circuit. Have had wires break in the plugs in the car side of the loom where the sensor plugs to. Easiest if cant be confirmed is to bridge each sensor wires - under the bonnet & under the back seat or just join the blue/white & blue/green wires out of the instrument cluster - bypassing the circuit. Unless you are somewhat familiar with wiring set up then you may be chasing your tail to identify & fix. Sounds quite probably like an alarm module fault but a bad earth or similar to it may cause iregularities in operation also. Wiring to indicators will probably be at the base of the steering column.

Quick answer no - The fuel guage wont operate when putting early dash into late -even when same cylinder configuration
-
Andrew, open glovebox, fuse compartment along the top - drop down a cover flap, would have thought both seats would be on one circuit but dont know for sure & dont have car here at the minute to check Cheers Grant

Agreed with Bravo. I always try to be economical with freight costs when sending & several times have been burnt, but also have won on some occasions. Very hard to guage sometimes (particually interisland or bulky item). Unless I can put in a courier bag I dont normally state shipping cost now because of unknown factors (distance, rural delivery etc) - until I am asked. I can then work out the most economical approach once I have details. I too have had issues when buying - knowing what I can send something for in comparison

I had to replace an inverter recently - same problem - & then the same ring also died. Got replacements from the manufacturers in Taiwan. Had originally got the set from the states on Ebay but had the manufacturers on the box. If you post a pic of your inverter & I will see if it is the same as mine

Brent, colour is as per last pic, first are just the light reflections, I would say they will be the same as yours Deep south??? - Hardly -only 30km south of Hamilton! Will be in Auckland in 2-3 weeks time otherwise $40 on Mainfreight would cover it Cheers Grant 027 6146607

Hotwire - Due to me being an auto sparky!

Brent, Pics of rear seats, both are mint $75?? Cheers Grant oops, posted two the same - see close up for true colour

There is also another circular plug under the intake manifold just ahead of the starter that is famous for making a bad connection, water gets into it and corrodes the contacts resulting in all sorts of electrical faults. I normally cut it out when I find problems with it and solder the wires together using heatshrink tube to waterproof the wires." which plug is this? i can't have checked it as i don't know which one you mean Do air flow meters normally give trouble? As Will said - Plug is in front of the starter under the intake manifold - same type of round multi plug as on L/H side of firewall that connects engine wiring to car. AFM's can fail although would seem coincidental if OK previously. Did you play with AFM settings? If so - could cause problem if not set correctly. Check all vacuum hoses for leaks. Is cam timing correct??

Once allen keys loosened it should ease out. Cant recall setup for sound mode though.

Brent, Have some from sedan in grey with dark grey diagonal stripes (near mint) - not sure if that is what you require?? Cheers Grant
