Works well too.... when you put fuel in it - aye Dave

Totally agree, haven't yet seen the BBC version but from previous experience with their news - it is far more proffesional This is typical of NZ TV news - dumbing down, almost patronising the public. The only news I was interested in with this sad case was FACT of the situation - not every hanger on's view. With all the crap questions that were fired by journalist vultures - those in charge at the press releases should have simply revealed the facts to date & left. I too reacon the Pike River CEO deserves a medal. It must be shear hell for him & he has presented himself totally proffesionally with matter of fact information in what have been hell circumstances for him.

Absolutely gutting news. Obviously no hope of any being alive now. If they did survive the first explosion (looking more unlikely from what Ive seen) then the second that was supposidly bigger would have put paid to any surviving. I am also pissed with some of the media for the constant harrassing & stupid questions being aimed at those in charge of things. Pull their bloody heads in - this aint pleasant for anyone & they were doing everything possible aimed at a successfull rescue.

GOLD Jon. So bloody true!

Sorry to burst the bubble, but I reacon that unit is fugly - looks vey cheap in a car of this calibre
-
Simply because I like OEM. Having seen a pictures of the E39 unit - I reacon it looks yuk compared to OEM (E46 an exception). I would reacon that quality would be marginal compared to OEM too. Incidentally - I have done all of the above that you mentioned - bar the Bluetooth (my car is not phone prepped) - I didn't have this option at the time though. Al that said - no denying "bang for buck" & as I said - for a non monitor equipped car - a good option. I can see your point for yours though too.
-
Are you sure you adjusted/tightened them correctly? What is the state of the cam?
-
Shaun, in all seriousness - why don't you ring Auto Sparkies in your area?
-
They are plug & play replacement for the standard OEM radio. To replace an existing OEM monitor, you will need a loom to run to the back of the car - radio tuner. I would say the oEM TV tuner would become non existent too. I personally would never remove an OEM monitor etc to replace with one of these. That said - a good idea for a non monitor equipped car

You'll be bloody lucky to get a match for your car - even if it is Alpine White. Most colours have more than one batch code for the same colour.

E39 Japan navigation system: DVD format hacking
hotwire replied to fritz.hu's topic in Electrical system
Can't claim to know for sure but would highly doubt that being possible as each unit reads a totally diiferent format disc -
Fitted one of these myself, but a flat bezel version (rather than curved) to suit the flat surface trim in the sedan. Very professional looking unit - great for my OEM acc fridge

Was just going to suggest the belt lube thing. You can also sometimes correct it by blowing the whole belt with compressed air. Think from memory the brake light switch turns quarter turn to release. This is how it is adjusted for depth. These are common to fail - check if it has power going through it

Is the Digital TV in these compatible with NZ digital system? I understand from Jochen that our digital is a new generation system & different to Europe at least
-
Yep I would, as I said - they were a good alarm & very reliable. That said - I haven't seen one in years. I have an 8046 (slighty later - mid 90's unit but non radar in our E12) - have never had an issue with it - even a false trigger. Couple of things though: - It won't meet current standards requirements (probably not applicable to you) - ANY alarm is only as good as the install
