E36 Shock absorber & Spring combo...
lidistick replied to madandy's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Same here. Bilstein and H&R combo. Slightly stiffer than stock but not overtly harsh. For less roll, upgrade the sway bars to motorsport items. If you have motorsport, then go with the M3 and the whole new mounting bits. More than welcome to try my car if you are close by to see if the combo will work for you. Cheers. -
I got Brembo rotors for $195incl from BM warehouse hamilton. I'm not sure if you can get them anymore but if I had to get new rotors, I'll source them from Znoelli. www.znoelli.co.nz

Get the motorsport sway bars. 27mm front and 18mm rear. huge difference in handling around the corners. Then get Motorsport shocks or Bilstein/Koni etc.

Are these aftermarket Recaros? Do the rails need to be modified? Cheers.

Excellent. Thanks

Sweet. So the courtesy light doesn't need to stay on the whole time right. Cheers

Just a quick question. All the cars that have a hardwired radar detector tend to use the wiring that comes off the sunroof. My car doesn't have a sunroof so 1) can I hardwire the detector without too much hassle (seeing as I've got ZERO electrical knowledge). 2) get it professionally done 3) just use the cigarette lighter. Cheers.

Are your current shocks standard? If they are then get aftermarket ones like Bilstein, Konis etc and get them machined to fit. If they are already aftermarket ones, then shorten them. Height of the car is dependent on the springs and not the shock so no it will not lower your car more. Don't buy factory 2nd hand shocks as they're probably rooted.

Nice. some H&R's and you're sorted

^ No I didn't. Yuen and I pulled off the steering wheel to fit the M-tech one Andrew was selling. It didn't fit but the car was MOVING after that. Sorta by accident.

Great Glad it worked for you as it did for me. Car feels more responsive now

No harm trying right? My car was driving by some old Japanese businessman. He did 74K kms in 10 years and car was serviced every 5000kms. It was soooo sluggish like the engine was brand new unless you had foot to the floor or in sports mode. Its now feeling much nicer after a solid thrash. The airbag didn't fit but my car has woken up from slumber

dunno what it is but sure as hell made a difference in mine. Is it an ECU thing? Economy mode drives like the previous Sport mode. Sport mode well .......... has stayed the same.

If you're going to do springs, do it once and do it right and get the shocks sorted too. Konis or Bilsteins. Cheers.
