Alternators. Are there any other alternators that will fit an m50 that aren't so huge? By fit I mean something thats smaller in size and has the grooved belt pulley as opposed to a v belt setup.

Damn, this would have been good 2 weeks ago! Dave, I have a shitload of HD cleaner leftover if you want it. Way better than kero. I am done cleaning!

Hadn't seen this before! Badass.

Havent done a whole lot. Cleaned the workshop up a bit and confined all my sh*t into one area which makes things easier. Here is a crapy photo of the pressure plate and clutch, underneath it is the 'moly solid flywheel. Thanks to forum sponsor Darren at NZAD for this and the gearbox. Shchmedimidigidman order also showed up. This is every single seal, belt, pully, hose, pumps and everything else that isn't metal on the motor. Also got a new shiny thermostat housing and other bits and pieces. Just basically waiting for the pistons and rods and valvetrain stuff to arrive so we can start assembling. Have also pretty muched sussed the ECU with steve so will update as we go. Last couple days I have been hungover from my birthday, so havent got much done. I met this guy but cant for the life of me figure out who he is. He is an MP of some sort and so is the lady on the far left, who I told I would vote for for being sexy, she bought me a drink.

Is the quick release a spline and ball type thing? If so I'll take it. The one I have now is shite

Pretty scummy really, but goes well in the bush. Here is a link Deals for BS etc.

Glenn- yep pretty much could order the pistons to fit the bore so I did. Might need a Tweak when they get here but fingers crossed they won't. Also, gotta stay under the 2000cc. The bore now is at the max which takes it from 1991 to 1997 if I remember rightly.

Block is ready for assembly. Just waiting on the pistons/rods etc to show up. Also getting Steve to make up some oil squirter plugs to plug up the squirters off the bearing journals.

When I'm not deleting noob posts and dealing to everyone's problems/moans I'm a rep for a decorating company.

Bit of a backwards night tonight. Came into the workshop ready to get the last of the cleaning done and the bores and I had forgotten to rinse the Chem wash stuff off the block so it had started rusting. Attacked it with dio something or rather and it has come back to how it was. Still gotta finish it up tommorow but hey it was rescued! Go on Steve, no need to ask!

Im sure you mean unnessacary, haha. Yeah, still a bunch of weight to come out but can do that later, have enough sh*t to do now. Glass panels are not on the cards yet unfortunatly. Went and picked up Getrag220 Gearbox, 6 puck clutch, 'moly flywheel and badass Pressure Plate from forum sponsor Darren at NZAD. Would highly recommend him , good to deal with and cheaper than anyone I got prices from.

Spent the whole of last night going through possibilities with the motor with Steve last night, now we have an action plan. Steve is porting the lights out of the head and making a few bits and pieces for reassembly. Great to have someone with a wealth of know-how on board! Tonight, cleaned more stuff up, really just killing time waiting for the parts to show up. Have got the taps ready and Graham and I are going to retap every hole in the block to make putting it back together easier. I have also got some new Dremel bits and am taking to the block to get rid of all the burs and factory casting marks. Fun fun fun. No pics as nothing really happened apart from demolishing about 5 tooth brushes and 100 pipe cleaners. Graham has said I can't put the motor back together until I am able to put a meal on it and eat it - knowing him this will be happening, literally!
