Mine is in the boot, so didn't have this issue in my e36, but from other experiences, I've been able to push it through the grommet rather easily, I've used things to help me like wire wrapped around it, then yanked through. Is that your problem, or more an issue of finding where to put the cable through?

When under somewhat light braking I can hear in the left front a 'knocking noise', started last night. I assume I should get this fixed before other noises start to arrise... I think these installs look nicer with full black grilles so not such a 'look at me' setup. Subtle is the key. Good work on the glove-box, seems tidy. Are you going to box out the gap as you don't want your parking tickets falling through the gap eh'?
