  1. Yep I have driven one and had the misfortune of owning a couple of Volvos (V70R, old 440SE back in the day) Just make sure you buy a warranty for it!
  2. Hmmm you must really love your wife....

    E30 Cabrio Restoration

    Where is Caffeine and Classics?
  5. A Fiat 500 Tributo Ferrari or Maserati would be a cool replacement
  6. Very cool! What are you replacing it with?
  7. Wow these have come down in price! What does that make a tidy e39 facelift 540 worth?
  8. "Proof of funds"? Come on! I could understand if you were selling something desirable, but a 20 year old car worth a couple of grand? Stop stroking yourself
  9. Wow nice low mileage. Is it NZ new?
  10. Sounds like a toss up between herpes and the clap!
  11. Thanks for the advice. I bought my SL from a charming "Sir" from Remuera. It has full Coutts service history but I think a specialist who works on cars of this area would probably do a better job than the modern technician who looks at what part or module needs replacing... Will try EC Mercedes as I originally planned
  12. Can anyone recommend a Mercedes specialist in Auckland? I have a early 80s R107 SL and it needs a service and a few other little jobs attending to. I don't want to go to Coutts but want someone who knows what they are doing. Had anyone here used EC Mercedez in Grey Lynn? Or is there anyone else in Akl you could recommend?
  13. Not sure what the rules are importing something of this vintage from the UK? I always keep an eye on auction results in the back of the UK Classic and Sportscar magazines and there was recently a 840ci 4.4 (didn't say whether auto or man) grade VG (very good condition) sell for less than 5,000 pounds.

    X5 Offroading?

You will see this soon at a BMW dealer near you . Ex demo? Ex press hack? No... "ex BMW NZ management drive car" much better...
  15. I bet he only drove it once or twice (if at all), would have been given to a nanny or some other general lackey
  16. Not the good old days with the annual lump sum payment but I remember you got up to $1k "course related costs" - Dick Smith etc used to get so sick of students asking for quotes they had a stack of pre printed quotes for new laptops sitting on the counter
  17. No offence, but that seems about right for a 316i!
  18. Worth a punt if it's cheap enough so you don't care if it blows up. Probably not in that category yet though... When I was a student at Otago (nearly 10 years ago) a good mate bought a 88 750il travelled 300kms as bit of a laugh for $2k thinking he would have heaps of fun until the next WOF then scrap it... He had it for more than 3 years and from memory only did a couple of oil changes and put on one new tyre for a WOF, then sold it and got his $2k back!
  19. http://www.coys.co.uk/auction.php?itemID=4539&auctionID=43 I think this is very cool! Imagine Phil Collins rocking around in this in the late 80's. Wonder how much the ownership will increase the value?

    E90 M3 Touring

Well not really... But a fine effort in terms of a replica none to less. IMHO looks waaaaay cooler than a RS4 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-335D-BI-TURBO-FULL-M3-REPLICA-ONE-OF-A-KIND-SANTORINI-BLUE-RCM-BARGAIN-/271452642372?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item3f33d69c44
  21. Looks very nice, I love the colour combo. Just need a some 15" baskets!

    M3 Evo Sedan

Wow that is rather ambitious pricing
  23. My old lady sold her house and I had to go and sift through the collection of things left over from my childhood and decide what is going to the tip! As a late 80's/early 90's child obsessed with cars I had the awesome Aurora AFX slot car set (with the Ghost Racer!) and also had quite the Tamiya Mini F1 set. These were 1/20 scale plastic cars with small motors powered by a pair of AA batteries, naturally there were lots of add ons etc you could use to modify your vehicle. There used to be quite the scene in Wellington for these Mini F1 cars and Model Crafts and Hobbies in Victoria Street used to hold evenings once a week where you would meet and race on their large tracks. Is anyone on here interested in these? Do you think its worthwhile holding onto my cars and bits and bobs for a while? I did a check on ebay, and some sellers seem to be asking quite big money for the early 90's vehicles like mine (albeit new boxed items).
  24. $11,300... for a E34 in boston green with tan??? No thanks. I'm tempted to email the dreamer and ask where the $300 comes from... why not just $11,000 or $11,500???
  25. I've had a good run with Toyo's - seem to be very good for the money
