  1. So I think I will stick with the original plan of looking for a nice NZ new Boxster. Has anyone on here owned one? If so, what were the servicing costs like?

In my experience they are just much more fun to drive. The one you have linked looks nice, but overpriced IMHO

For some reason your link doesn't work. The 318is is a good choice, but get the 1.9 motor (same as Z3) and wait for a NZ new manual one
  4. Yes enquired about that yesterday, gutted to find out it was already sold. Will look out for a low km 2.7 I think as there aren't many 3.2's in my price range. Your does look like a nice one, but for some reason I only want a facelift. Now this one looks perfect, if only it was a 325i and in NZ! Maybe I should buy one in the UK, do a road trip around Europe and bring back. Sadly I don't think it will be old enought to get within the classic exemption for the compliance rules.
  5. Good idea, ideally I would like NZ new with history but the one you have linked gives a lot of "bang for buck". I would love to get an E30 convertible, but I'm very fussy. If anyone knows of a 325i manual facelift NZ new travelled under 150km let me know! For similar money I would much rather go the Boxster
  6. Hahaha these don't always work... I went away for a dirty weekend, drove over a pot hole and ripped a tyre. Goo was useless and to make matters worse it was winter in Central Otago and the area I broke down happened to have no cell phone reception!
  7. That could be an idea. I drove one years ago but at the time thought it was quite hard wok to get the power out of the vehicle. I should maybe drive one again to refresh my memory. I did think of MX5 for a moment, but to be completely honest couldn't be bothered justifying why I bought a hair dressers car!
  8. I'm keen to get a weekend car that I can have some fun in for under $25k. I'm open to pretty much anything, but ideally I would like something quick and the ability to put the roof down. The one I keep coming back to is a Porsche Boxster, should be able to get a good facelift NZ new 2.7 within budget. Has anyone on her owned one? Are running costs reasonable. I haven 't driven a Z4, but if it's anything like a Z3 i'm not interested. A left field option would be a mid 90's Mercedes E Class cabriolet (W124), this won't go anywhere near satisfying the performance criteria, but there is something about the idea of cruising along in big four seater convertible and also a possible future classic? Also toying with the idea of a classic, but not sure whether the up keep could be justified. If I went older a Alfa Spyder floats my boat. Is there something I haven't thought of that could be a winner?
  9. Unfortunately you don't get much for your money with One Series in terms of age, spec etc. If it was my money, I would think outside the square a bit... You mentioned a Peugeot 307 SW, but for early $20's you could get a nice 08 or 09 308 HDi hatch with the silky 6 speed auto. These are a well spec'd car with features such as dual climate air and panoramic glass roof. Plenty of grunt and heaps of space. You are a lucky man that your wife is manual inclined! If she will settle with a smaller car you could get something really fun like a Alfa Mito or Mini Cooper S!
  10. Surely for $20k you could get a very nice facelift one?
  11. Looks nice, I like the interior/exterior trim combo
  12. And people wonder why Fuemana went broke...
  13. I don't think its that stupid: 1. A 525i is a large car with average performance and more suited to an automatic transmission 2. The cost would be prohibitive 3. If you want to feel you are driving a performance car, buy a manual 330i, M3 or similar
  14. Trademe lisiting $1 reserve - wonder what it will go for
  15. E36 repowered with a VN Commonwhore 3.8! TradeMe
  16. Does this have performance enhancements over the standard 318ti?

    M3 Cab

Is this the same car that was for sale for $100k last year or another one? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-420180093.htm
  18. Can I still order if I pay today?
  19. I want a facelift one of these! Looks like a nice car, but a rather optimistic asking price...
  20. A mate of mine has a nice NZ new 1996 328i Sedan in black with black leather, 5 speed manual travelled 180km. Its very straight and drives well. He is heading away and wants to sell it. What is it worth? Would anyone here be interested in it?
  21. Don't know if this is for real or not but it cracks me up! Go Norwegian hip hop!
  22. Big money considering the kms and trans
