    megasquirt...

I'm pretty close to installing mine, it all built and running fine on the stim. Just got to sort out my wiring and put it into an old L-jet case. I got my gear from DIYautotune.com good service and intl shipping aint too bad. I got a few extra bits, total cost was $800 all up including harness, LC-1 wideband, stim, sensors, USB to serial adapter (not needed with LinkG3). I checked out linkG3 and although the initial cost difference wasn't huge it was all the extra add-ons that were going to cost, eg wasted spark, 4bar MAP. The other thing was tuning, far more support for tuning MS DIY, plus I've already got several maps of other people running a similar setup with MS.

    Wheels widths

Your entitled to your opinion but I can't understand you would want 9" rims for anything but looks on an e30. I can fit wider tyres on my 7.5" rims. To run a decent tyre on 9" rims you'd need serious guard work. 16x8 max, with ET20, even then you need rolled guards if your running 225/45. I don't understand running way undersized tyres either? 205/40 is tiny, why not run the factory rolling diameter. All that said, I'm no expert, only going what has worked for other people. would be sweet to have enough time and money to try all these setups out.

    Wheels widths

Problem is its hard to find any wider tyres than 225 in a suitable size for our cars. I have seen 245/40 overseas but not in NZ. Basically I don't see the point in going wider rims when you can't get the tyres to fit. You really have to go 17's and move up into 235 or 245 if you want wide rubber on the back.
  5. I'm pretty sure most people at Knox stay 2 years before flatting, and its real traditional. But my mates who went there loved it. quite a few from school went to Arana, that's sweet too, decent breakfast on sunday mornings which is essential.
  6. Don't do it. Halls are the main reason 1st year is badass. will be the best $10K you'll (or parents) ever spend.
  7. close carl, glenns in a 1JZ motor, 2.5L instead of 3L, from a soarer or something like that
  8. first time for everything i guess will be TFB when done though
  9. just a thought about that wastegate, any chance its not big enough?
  10. Before you send your card numbers away just do a search on some of the overseas forums for the shop in particular. Chances are places like r3vlimited and bimmerforums will have info on the shop. Theres some massive savings atm due to the dollar, but shop around and ask for freight cost first, some places will really wound you on that.
  11. I'm no expert but readings between dynos varies quite a bit. (Especially if they are rolling road or hub dynos) Dynojet in particular seem to read quite a bit higher. SAE and other corrections can also play a big part in it, I can't see anything about correction on those sheets. Still pretty decent power though.
  12. yip, was gonna say Royal Blue if its got a bit of purple in it.

    E30 318IS finished

badass. Perfect ride height. Pretty sweet what a drop, wheels and a few little add-ons can do. you sure its finished? give it a while and I reckon you'll be wanting to do something else to it.
  14. get yourself a workshop manual and give it ago, best bet is to get a Bently manual from amazon. If you've done other mechanical work you should be ok.
  15. nice, what wheel in particular you going to get? is it a 528i?
  16. would love to man but I'm not up in aux very often, just make sure to take plenty of pics
  17. FWIW I went from 2 12s to a single ten. I just found the 12's overkill. Also, from a quick look at the specs that amp isnt capable of driving one of the amps. Look into a D-class amp or higher power A-class
  18. Sooo close now, just waiting for some garage space and for the ARP studs to get here. MLS gasket, and wideband all here. Going to get the head pressure checked and new valve seals done. The ARP studs and MLS gasket should hold things together ok. Clutch will probably be next to go. I'm also going to give Megasquirt ago, fuel only at this stage. Going to create an adapter harness, almost plug'n'play. Only need to change to a E36 TPS and some piping to get rid of AFM and incorporate a new air temp sensor. Will be running 550cc cossie injectors, bit overkill but wont need to be upgraded for a while. Expect an update in a few weeks...
  19. dealer. chch bmw are ok to deal with.
  20. why M20 build? I'm just curious as to why you went that option. Will be sweet when finished though.

    Internet Speeds

1800 down and 668 up. Telstras 2Mbit plan but just got notification today that it will increase to 4Mbit from 1st august, will be interesting to compare now and then.
  22. I wouldn't bother with an intercooler, not worth it for the small amount of boost you plan on running. Pressure drop through it will probably negate any gains through the cooler air. Unless you guys have done the calcs and found otherwise?
  23. nah. (There are exceptions though)
