1800 down and 668 up. Telstras 2Mbit plan but just got notification today that it will increase to 4Mbit from 1st august, will be interesting to compare now and then.

I wouldn't bother with an intercooler, not worth it for the small amount of boost you plan on running. Pressure drop through it will probably negate any gains through the cooler air. Unless you guys have done the calcs and found otherwise?

nah. (There are exceptions though)

speedo sensor is on the diff

I get what your saying. Forced induction is alot of time and money. I went the turbo 4 cyl route as it was what I already had in the car, I also had the resources to make all the parts I needed. Certainly wouldn't recommend it as an option for everyone. The jap swaps are the best bang for buck, (specially glens) but as you;ve ruled them out I'd take a closer look at the M52, its a much more modern motor, you'll also probably get an alloy block so there's decent weight savings there. Also, the M52 is far more "bolt in" than the M30 which requires custom mounts, maybe custom driveshaft as well. Theres a member in chch who has some of the bits needed for the OBD1 conversion and maybe oilpan if that hasn't sold.

its not so much the weight but where it is, right over (or past) the front axle. Besides, a turbo 4 cyl can make more than enough power than an e30 needs

Can't be superlows. I'm running a 40mm drop in my pre-fl and its almost too low. 40mm drop should be heaps. If not theres always 50 or 60mm drops available

You mean rpm and throttle position Cain? Andy, Alpha-N is quite a common stup on e30M3's with aftermarket manifolds, hi comp etc. Of course it allows you to remove the AFM I think most ECUs are able to run it. From what I understand of it it works well, the only problem being that it requires retuning even for small engine mods such as a CAI or whatever Still, dam nice work

Cheers guys. Yeah, chances are this week will be pretty messy.

318i will use a 215mm pressure plate while the 323i will be a 228mm. Some of the early M10s shared a flywheel with the 6 cyls though so they should be interchangable.

with 17's you can get away with a higher (numerical) offset than the smaller diameter wheels due to the angle of the strut. I don't really see the point in going much wider than 8" as you cant get tyres any wider in suitable sizes. You could run a 235/40 and that will be a bit bigger OD than stock, I think some manufacturers also make a 245/35 which would be pretty badass on 8" (minimum) rears but I don't think you'd want that on the front, and 245 is pretty big for e30. FWIW- you want around ET25 for 7.5", and you should get away with stock guards 8" wide you want to run around ET20 (probably guard work though you may get away with ET25 for a 17" wheel and not have to roll guards. Is staggered an option? Most people say it stuffs up the handling but alpina did it with 7" front and 8" rear?

maybe, depends on what offset andrews mags are and what offset is suitable for a VW corrado. at a guess I'd say they'll fit but will probably stick out a bit too far, he might have to run a stretched tyre and or some guard work
-
wrong way round man, rwd can use spacers on fwd mags. Putting spacers rwd mags will make his offset twice as bad. (generally speaking of course)

Do this^ Depending on how tight the plugs are you may get away without welding the nuts. Just do them up MFT

Modified E30: What would you do if you had the money?
Mike replied to m_power's topic in General Discussion
pretty much josh's project, or conrads original E30 project. and I'll pretend I didn't read that post about the v6 noise -
Yup, I've had things listed before with no interest. Stick them on $1 res and they sold for than than I wanted originally.

z1 discs and e30 M3 calipers and carriers. Have a look on e30.de for the specifics. I believe the M3 calipers are the same as a E23 7 series item but the carriers are M3 specific. (could be wrong, was a while ago i checked it out) Another option they had listed was to use 325iX touring rears as they are ventiliated rears. This was more complicated though due to the different offset of the iX. Let me know how you get on with the Z1 discs if you go that method

try being the first year through for NCEA. you think its bad now? Don't know how you blame NCEA for lack of doctors though? most of the ncea generation will still have atleast 3 years to go before they graduate. Besides, otago uni has it own selection process for med, go bitch to them if you think they should let more idiots into med.

could he not swap over the different parts? eg incompatable sensors or manifolds? (assuming he still gets an M52B28tu?
-
looking good man. tec2 4 doors are sweet. Sam, your right about the 17's, look too big on any other e30 apart from M3's what happened to Tane's car? that was another badass 4dr Mtec2 with the 17" ACS reps
-
huh, learn something everyday. is that a standard e30 diff? the lsd's (e30's and toyotas) i've had a play with have all behaved how i described.
-
not necessarily try and turn the output shafts in opposite directions. an LSD wont let you do this.

I like, definately hints of Aston Martin in the side shots. (not a bad thing)
