Wierd... Deja-vu...

And yet... She can remember which way around to hold up her hands - palm up or palm down changes it... Dummer than a bag of hammers

Or try these guys: Headlight recoating If I removed them and dropped them is was $145, or $180 (I think) on the car. They replace the UV coating which protect the polycarbonate. I brought new ones though. $645 for genuine Hella angeleyes

Who "supervises" their car when its being worked on?

Which is why trucks now have to be torqued and have pointers installed - to visually see if the nuts are moving. There is a reason why the torque is specified. If a person doesn't torque wheel nuts, why would they torque head bolts. Just rattle 'em, they'll be fine. Right? -
But if you'd bought the M3, you'd still have ended up spending the same money on it... It just happens

Actually - any of the suspension can do it too! My 525 with fatory motorsport suspension had done it, as the shocks were poked. The bumpstops had worn down to nothing (one was actually gone!). I made a 10mm thich plate and fitted it to the strut top to raise the car 10mm, AND strengthen the tower - plus a strut brace on top to sandwich the tower in. The strut top mount is alloy too, so is very easy to bend and provides no support to the tower. Beisen systems do a slightly thicker spacer that quietens down the Vanos gears - quit a lot cheaper than a "proper" rebuild. A friend has an NZ new 540i Touring. He's just rebuilt the motor at 265kms - it had an oil consumption issue from the oil separator self destructing (it was basically powder) and the timing chain tensioner was basically worn right through and at least one end had snapped off and disappeared! The are an impressive motor though! You'll want to get the trans serviced, with the correct oil and a genuine BMW filter (cost is irellevant anyway - you hardly ever change them). It's probably never been done, as they are "sealed for life" which means BMW won't pay to change that oil under warranty as part of the free servicing introduced for some markets!

Only if they all came from the same car as the cluster

Seems to apply more to some makes than others.

That's some good logic right there... So when you start paying as much as a truck or bus, then they will have to give way to you??? But not until then. You also don't give way to old ladies crossing the road? She's got no plates either. If EVERYONE drove their car with one person in it, instead of any alternative, you'd be going a LOT slower!
-
That's the same as big wheels and superlow suspension though. Isn't it? My E39 is faster, now that I've raised* it and it wasn't even that low before!

Agreed - especially when you get a Bongo or something with left hand threads on one side. Most rattle guns are only adjustable on the doing up - they usually use full power on undo, regardelss of the setting (not so good for doing UP left hand threads to low torque!) -
Fixed that for you! The one where you pull Right out of an unsigned side road, as the other cars turns right pulling in off the "main" road: Under the old rules, the car on the main road was supposed to give way - did they EVER? I could have disposed of SO many cars that way! The majority of NZ drivers think driving is a right, and don't know quite a few of the road rules, or choose to ignore them. I think this rule change is the right thing to do, so we are the same as practically everywhere else in the world, AND peole mostly tried to ignore the outgoing rule - they'd shoot around the corner before you had a chance to get over the intersection. Of course, with the Whanagrei City Council roading detartment being a bunch of useless loonies who live in their own little world, the intesections up here will be cocked up for YEARS.

"This car has had no expense spared in turning it into an M3 replica" Except there was no point in paying for the bonnet power bulge.... There's something weird about an M3 'vert. You either go nutz OR hairdresser - not both!

I got them all right :-) Bonus. Now I can roadrage and be justified when everybody gets it wrong, right?

I pretty much always watch, but there is only limited places I let do work. Mostly it's people I know quite well. If I use someone new, I pretend I know less than I do, and don't comment much - I still decide whether they are good enoughbased on how they do it, and am willing to pay for better work. I have a WOF guy I trust - He knows me, I know him. Pretty rare he fails anything, because he KNOWS I will fix it. I once had a balljoint on the VW Transporter which he said I would need to do before next WOF, because it does low milage, it's OK for now. When I took it in 6 months later, it had 4 new balljoints, all the rubber bushes, two new shocks, power steering installed, lowering springs and was all painted. He said he KNEW it would be done overkill when I took it back :-) -
Did you clean the cat temp sensors, or the oxygen sensors? I don't know if the o2 sensors would like Isopropyl???

Pfffft! My $800 a fornight mortgage eats up a LOT of income! People who earn more tend to spend more, have bigger houses etc. If I earnt 25% less, I'd probably "own" a house worth 50% of what I have currently. (Actually... Mrs is preggers, so our income WILL halve in about 5 months ) If we earnt another $50K a year, I'd have about $30K MORE crap from trademe and eBay! She'd have $20K of holidays! I do sometimes think about selling up, buying a normal suburban house in an average area and spend that $800 a fortnight on sh*t I don't need

Nah, Just BMW, sorry.

Again, Call Paul at Milland.co.nz I ordered my key from him, precut/coded to my car, a full remote key was about $320 inc GST, and a basic key was about $180 inc GST (from memory - was a few weeks back). I was quoted by Claytons at $420 and $250 each. (plus I wanted a lock, and they were quoting the wrong part to me) Mine is 315Mhz radio, so yours might be different though.

BE CAREFUL! If you say it is a business machine, but you try to claim on personal contents cover, you'll be out of pocket! Business equipment is VERY unlikely to be covered on your personal cover! If you have specified business tools cover on your personal insurance, the payout will be based on it's depeciated value. Buy a used HDD and bung in it. Format it and tell them you wiped it for security reasons if it's a personal machine you are claiming for. They aren't paying out for you SSD, and won't replace it with one either,so no loss to them. If they are going to take it with the drive in it, they need to replace it with the same, BUT could still be at depreciated value. Don't try to be fraudulent either - it's a road to no more insurance! Also, if you're a financial advisor, you may have difficulties with licenses and certification in the future! They have no right to your data, so worst case is you backup your info and give them the drives(and they pay for them/replace them)

Contact Paul at milland.co.nz. He can get anything, Have found him cheaper than the dealer for everything so far. Have probably spent $3500 there in the last 4 months I've got an extra key and driver door lock (amongst about 15 other parts) ordered and they were all cheaper than the dealer. Just the key and lock was about $250 cheaper from him. He's getting me oddball bits like vanos piston bolts etc too. I know him from elsewhere, but others on here buy from him too.

Exhaust is a bit stinky - no emissions equipment.Don't use it in confined spaces!

Yes it is. If you're selling one item, the equilibrium is where your one item meets the price of one buyer. You only have one, so only need one buyer. There might be 400 potential buyers, but they might think it's worth 1/2 what you want. The equilibrium is where demand and the price meet (proven by the purchase of said item). When you have a buyer willing to pay that price, you have equilibrium. If you then pulled another of the same item out of your arse, you may not get the same price, as demand has fallen, and all other potential purchasers have a different equilibrium point. EVERY sale is an equilibrium.

It really is surprising how often that happens though!
