  1. Get the part number and Email Paul at Milland to get a price. They shouldn't be much.
  2. Probably more effective to move to a better neighbourhood. Even though the locals would probably be able to overcome the "antitheft device", they would be more likely to report that cars presence to the Police, than to try to steal it.

    LED Bulbs

If you don't code out the cold checks, you can have "strobing" of the lights when the cold checks are done - the current may be enough to light the LEDs, but an incandescent wouldn't have even thought about lighting up. Looks pretty nasty when it does it - random looking blinking. Not all models can code out all the checks either. I changed my E39 LCM to a later version (LCM4, from and E53 X5) to enable the disabling ( ) of the angel eye cold checks. Also, common replacement LED units simply do NOT have the same "amount" of light... they look bright, but won't light up much of an area type thing... That's why I stuck with incandescent on the Model A Ford - the LEDs looked brighter, but were harder to see, especially in sun.
  4. the "fine" would have been the last years license fee he hadn't paid. When they cancel the rego, you are still liable for the outstanding license fee. It doesn't stop the cancellation though. They send letters. Since it takes all of 3 minutes, and is FREE to put them on hold, I really don't understand how it "accidently" happens...
  5. Go Manual! Are your ears painted on????? I think you'll find the manual conversion cost is much closer to the $4500 repair price you'd be OK with, than the rebuild cost you'e been quoted..... ... AND it probably allows for the towing to Ray, and maybe some petrol for the trip home again afterwards
  6. Did you do all 4 barriers behind the doors? (the rears are the usual suspects, but they can all leak) What did you seal them with??? If not done well, they can come off again - butyl tape is the "correct" way, though I used butyl sealer in a mastic gun (So I can get them off agin, if required)
  7. I was going to post in the "What did you do t your BMW?" thread, that I had possiblky just driven NZ's rarest E39...... tell them properly what you have now We generally have manuals, and after driving aja540i's one again... I'd have to have a manual 540i too - the auto just is NOT the same
  8. The place is FULL of internet myths. Open road cars have other issues to town cars... but it seems people are only worried about engines.
  9. Silver Fox's graph is how our M54 FELT before I did the Vanos seals. With the Vanos deleted, there's nothing to boost the low end, as the Vanos does - I guess.
  10. Shouldn't someone have made a dizzy cap comment already?
  11. E30, E36, E46 320i's were amongst the hungriest of their lineups, but without the power of the bigger engines. Has that improved?
  12. Do you mean the rubber intake pipe? That's splits? They cheap new, and a used one is a gamble anyway. Motorsport front shocks aren't cheap new but used ones are probably half buggered too.... not sure if you can fit sport ones with standard springs either???
  13. The "Hirepool" ones have been pretty good for me - I used one behind my old VW van to collect a Beetle from up north. Was comfy at 100K most of the way and didn't seem stupid heavy.
  14. Yep... Deffo looks better than the E65!
  15. Thats only the peak. Not the curve.
  16. M54 thermostat and housing are one piece. They fail often - buy a new one.
  17. Not a sport then, with Contour front seats? I didn't get a text, so suppose not!

    M42 ecu

Long term??? you mean loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong term..... ...... Like all my stuff!
  19. Or just get them recoated: http://www.clearlight.co.nz/ was under $200 for a pair of E39 lights a while back.
  20. Ahmedsinc: The M54 has a variable length manifold, to counter the phenomenon Ron is talking about, so I assume there is no point in using the M54 manifold, unless you are going to use the variable part (DISA Valve). At low RPM, the intake charge has to follow a long, single path to the cylinder - this keeps the air velocity up, and gets more of it into the cylinder (it's also tuned length, so the pressure wave created by a closing valve helps fill the next cylinder). At higher RPM (amongst other factors) the ECU opens the direct (short, dual) path and allows more flow, with less restriction, using all available paths to cylinders. It really does have a massive effect (along with the other M54 torque increasing tech). It wouldn't surprise me if my M54B25 would "out torque" an M52B28.

    Peoples opinion

    Agree! looks nice.
  22. Agree! Needs more fire!
  23. That's practically what I said I'm putting E23 Calipers on my VW Bus, with Mercedes S class rotors
