And expensive to get up to scratch - after you remove the complete interior and wood trim and burn it, you have to find something nice to go back in.... Really though, I think it may end up cheap because the 540i/530i will confuse a lot of people, and even put some off. A lot won't look, if they think it's a V8, and those who really want a V8 will look and be disappointed! Keep it on your watchlist

Ah good man - another yokel I can hassle. Sounds a bit like you're in the same boat as I am, with our 525i - done most of the issues - just rebuilding my laptop, so I can code the brand new ABS module. We're just coming up 135K I think. Welcome!

Maybe his wife said "SELL IT!"... so he is.... technically...
-
Looked up the tracking for the BRAND NEW ABS/DSC module I brought for $480.30... seems to have passed by customs entirely un-noticed Is with Rural Delivery now... so should be waiting at home for me At least my Wife KNOWS about this one, and not the thouasnads I send on the bike last week

OH my GOD! BMW sell clothes - I must get some... and when it's new car time, I'll get a Doctor Martin..... Is it just me, or should BMW branded clothes just be for BMW employees??? Maybe I'll start wearing scrubs for casual social events....

Exactly. Sent from my Fridge using Jungle Drums

Trademe sucks arse. Bidbud.co.nz is where it's at - it IS trademe, but it actually does stuff how you want it to be done (continuous pages, shows a photo in searches even when gallery isn't paid for etc), plus its WAY better for bidding (just don't tell anyone about it ) Bidbud charges nothing (yet anyway) but trademe still makes their money. This guy just does it better!

Did you take it to a dealer (BMW) or an independent? The codes are best read with decent equipment - you should either have a code, or a shadow code. If the light has been on, a code of SOME kind shouls have been logged. Also - what exact light is it? There are a number of them that come come up orange? Can you find an image of it?

I does actually sound REALLY good - not too loud, but loud enough to asound purposeful. WAY better thean my Neighbours fairly new XR8 - especially as it goes around Mojojoe corner

GOOD! The old O ring would have been so flat and hard that it would have looked like part of the piston, right?
-
Yep - No emmisions gear on Dads NZ New 90' 325i SE - no O2 sensor, not even a charcoal cannister, not cats nothing!
-
They did on our M54 - O ring inside, teflon over the top - it may need a stretch slightly. The pistons fell out because the orings were so hard, then the newly sealed ones were failry tight to get in, and move. The O ring will flatten out a fair bit, into the square groove (shouldn't go hard, like the shitty genuine ones though!)

BMW Scanner 1.4 from Xcar360 (china). About $40 NZ... but you'll need the OBD to round adapter, AND wait until it ships

The best you can do as far as software goes, is the something BMW Specific. INPA (etc) is the BMW software (Google cableshack - he's very helpful) and it gives BMW secific codes. A lot of the generic ones are crap, and the codes they give are somewhat meaningless. BMW Scannner 1.4.0 is probably the easiest to use, and gives MOSTLY useful codes, plus lets you program some options. Nerd alert!: BMW Scanner 1.4.0 and an INPA system will get basically anything you want to do done: Examples (dependent on models), fit used modules (eg BMW Scanner can set the VIN and MILAGE of a used LCM to match the car), new modules (NCSExpert is part of the INPA package, code the module to YOUR car), scan for codes, set chimes/turn them off/change the sound, change service intervals, change OBC Coolant Temp warning point, Program light checks on or off, flash engine/trans ECU software (WINKFP), deactivate lost keys, set alarm/locking settings, disable/enable electric window auto functions, retrofit options your car didn't have, alter light settings for DRL/indicator flashes etc.... anything BMW could do, plus ALL the stuff that they don't know HOW to, PLUS the stuff that BMW Scanner can do that INPA/BMW can't/Won't etc. Clearly though, you need to be careful, but it's not very tricky. Also - diagnostics is a LOT more than replacing the part the code is for - the problem often is NOT the part refered to by the code. -
Style 42 - Nice lip on them, classic BMW spoke pattern You're supposed to have a blue car though

I did a "group buy" a couple of years ago on the Halogens, and they were $6xx for a PAIR of halogens, yes, xenons were approaching $2K. After I got the new Halogens, I got a genuine BMW Xenon retrofit kit for about NZ$900 shipped from the UK - they pop up on German ebay fairly often, but usually have gingercators (which I prefer anyway!). It came with a self levelling retrofit kit, ballasts new headlights, everything required!

Hella do adapter looms too. About $30 I think???
-
call Hella NZ, ask for Clark. Get a price. Buy.

Cheers Ron - Just did a Probike order this week - hadn't seen Wiggle. Also did a Torpedo7 order today, only because everything I wanted was on sale, and just cheap enough to bother with - the free freight meant it was similar price to overseas, instead of about 50% more! None of mine is as fancy as Campag - Mine is a commuter with "sensible" bit's and some Wacko bits - the cheap is slowly being replaced by "good" - only the frame will be original by the end of the month! And even that's getting painted this weekend -
Hmmm... wierd - we have a '13 2.0 BiTurbo 4motion high roof, LWB Transporter that we ordered with DSG but (you'll like this!) VW couldn't do DSG with those options - we had to drop the high roof, the 4WD, or the DSG... we dropped the DSG! It pulls like a train up to about 130 (which I've never gone past in it!) and it had under 200 kms on it at that point, so would have still been plenty tight! It EATS the pants of our old Hiace 2.5 D4D (but that's not hard - I don't think Toyota has ever made a decent diseasel!). and is quicker than a Hilux too (excpet it fisrt, where it limits it's power output). On the second day we had it, driving back from Kaitaia, I overtook a logging truck in a place I'd have never even attempted it in the Hiace. I was in 4th gear, but could have used 3rd too. Then climbing a hill (heading south, into the northen side of Okaihau) where the Hiace was tapped out in 3rd gear (4 speed auto) the Transporter cruised up in 6th (just)! I could have still used 5th, 4th or 3rd too! I'm really impressed with it... but really wonder what a 3.0 version would be like

Just buy a chevy V8 petrol. It'll be a shitload faster, a shitload cheaper, and you'll probably never spend the difference in fuel costs running it. 40 knots should be sufficient
-
Yeah! I saw that before the badge... its probably a 316i auto too. I'm tempted to put an ///M badge on the 72 Beetle as a piss take I've got one that came off the 525i as soon as it arrived at my house.

I wish I could help, but it's a bit over my head! I know that some modules need to be coded differently, for another module to be able to perform as intended - as a made up example, the ABS/DSC module may need to be coded differently for cruise, or the GM needs to have a feature enabled. I wonder if the cruise is expecting to see something that isn't there, like the clutch switch as well as the brake switch? I know they have a clutch switch, but I think yours was originally auto wasn't it?
