Hello I have a 1997 e39 540 nz New After the trans cooler that sandwiched between radiator and air-con condenser. I guess since I have it apart I could be keen to replace the power steering unit at the same time. (although this appears to be in good condition) only other part I need is the little nipple that connects the pipe from the radiator reservoir to top left hand side of radiator. I'll try find the part number asap. Vent Hose Fitting on Radiator for BMW. # 17110419132 Part numbers of the trans cooler 17.22-1740798.0 the power steering 32.41-1 141 819.0 as below (not my pic but same as) anyway where is best to get these off new i think will be best....if you can supply these call me 0211543092 thanks Liam

Tempted have to consult with wife. Too many cars at present.

I will get it over hoist next week , clean the sensor and see how the exaust looks. Could be a catalytic converter calapsing, will have to wait and see.

I initially jumped under left hand side just behind front wheel. Sounds like exaust leak on start up. While driving with accelerator down sounds metalic. no bad sounds when at idle. It has passed now seem back to normal.......

Ok went out to a double header of football two games in hot weather and gave the car a bit of a thrash. Out of town pre season trip and a b road rumble is a better explaination. Due to the fact my good mate and bimmer driver was keen to see a bit of power laid down to get the blood flowing . So that was all fine nothing to crazy tyre still in tack got home had a few needed maccas to slip back into reality...(preseason game today making 3 for the weekend) so started the bimmer up and sounded like a hole in the exaust (just got new warrent 3 days ago) so pretty sure its quite tidy underneath. So from memory took a 90deg right hander (last corner before home) foot flat and then roller up to home. This moring raspy eng sound till i decided to undo last night and threw her hard left. Sound seemed to come right. So hope the story has not bored anyone. But I'm thinking bushes or something else that i should be looking at to make this more fun. On memeory last time i gave it a good blow out straight line simalar things happendno corners. now my mind is considering that it could be eng management from exaust sensor....... opinions please Thanks in advance.

how easy does it fit to an e21. What else has to be changed?

I already ordered an aftermarket no motor replacement. $98 +$16 post . I have heard some are a bit noisey in operation . I didn't fancy a second hand one as it seems a common issue. But at about 100 I thought it would at least let me rebuild the old one.

Hi guys so as per title the regulator has broken the clip allowing the window down but not up IS ok I have pulled apart and got crimp on wire below so window is up and secure. I thinking is it possible to just buy the clip or should I just buy a new regulator complete? and either way who is best to get these off.(price and quality + good buggers) Cheers guys

I'm in auckland for work heading back friday or saturday could go through taupo on way home with them. Cost a box of beer. If you want it done call me 0211543092.

If it had no 1st then 2nd would be first and if it defaulted to 2nd you would in 3rd. then it would really suck.
-
I'd recommend getting it looked at, The 91 won't cause much issue maybe a back fire more common in V8. but the engine light would worry me, its possible that the fuel filter is starving the engine but more likely a sensor or something. I'd get it scanned. easier than waiting for issue to develop.

I had a Citroen like this, Please don't judge me. anyway if your not bothered too much best DIY IMO is take out the liner. Remover material spray with spray filler. Then sand and paint with color. Cost about $30 never will sag again. Most people don't notice.

I never really thought about nz new or import. By luck I brought a cheap e39 NZ new. My old e30 was a good car no idea the origin. But rust was easy to fix. the steel is good to work with. The real indication is if your an auto electrician buy ex singapore if your a panel beater buy ex UK if your a mechanic buy ex Japan if your none of the above buy a ex SA if your tight All others and the above If you can afford buy NZ new

We all suffering from its effects. Makes Chernobyl seem insignificant if everyone is setting these off for lols ( i suggest that if I had the option to make something to go bang then i would). I guess its fun not to think of tomorrow.

so given how easy it is to remove......should I put on tires before or after application.

I drove a couple when I was buying and test drove a few 528's and one 530 and liked the 530 alot , But the moment i planted the foot in a 540 I brought it. I was not bothered about economy as it only matters if you do alot of k's . They say it's possible to get 9.5 ish /100 but round town its more like 12.5 and open road is 10.5 I do like to put the foot down.

The budget should not matter if you will keep it over 2 or so years. because the sell price will still be better for a 330 over the 318. I like power I went froma e30 318 to a e39 540 the cost per week is +/- $12 in fuel. relitive to low km's the difference between 9l/100 to 11l/100 is $4 the misses does about 200 and I give it a blast in the weekend. best value for $12 i ever get. Economy is never given in context . No one ever look at cost relitive to personal use. My wife get to drive what ever I bring home. I rarely let her know what I'm looking at. I usually ask if she has money in the right account then tell her I'll sell if she don't like it. After the 318 she loves the 540. drop the bomb and let the dust fly you both will be happier after.

I believe that car A has to give way. The reason is car A is performing a right hand turn followed by a lane change then a right hand turn to complete a U turn. The Car A according to road rules must give way to all traffic as he/she is crossing the centre line. White line(centreline) is equivilent to give way. so left hand rule applies here is a excerp from give way rules New Zealand's Give Way Rules If you are going straight ahead, give way to all vehicles coming straight through from your right. If you are turning, give way to all vehicles not turning. If you are turning left, you have right of way to traffic turning right. If you are turning right, give way to all vehicles. If you are leaving the path of the centre line, you are turning. You must give way to vehicles that are following the centre line, or that are turning left.

My Hiace is 2010 (dec) has the 20% more torque and over 20% more horsies. yet to click over 100k but had no issues as yet. I have heard the transits are good though. Must I remind you of where the transit is made. Its not a yank ford. It's euro designed and made for europe. As for Toyota diesels I believe they are reliable. All ways a lemon in the mix somewhere.

I like the 540 and the power if diving open road. However I put 60,000 km a year in a hiace and I like the diesel. Not saying buy a van but toyota or euro diesel. We have a skoda at work octavia goes ok rather the hiace. The superb is superb. We also have a captiva.............it is awfull. and averages 10-12l/100ks. I'm not sure how enjoyable a 540 would be trying to keep economy down. I tried for a while now I realise I'd rather pay the extra $3-4/100k's and just drive. mine sits at around 10-12.5/100km plant boot at will. Atleast I arive happy.
