  1. Hopefully harder to say no!
  2. I've decided it has to go to fund the new project.... Give him a hurry up!! Can maybe do a deal if he buys sooner rather than later.
  3. Could be... Just thinking about options. How much for the full kit (trans, EGS, ECU, EWS, loom and engine)?
  4. Have you got ECU, manifold, wiring loom, etc if required? Manual trans would be nice too
  5. Oops typo corrected.
  6. Says the man intending to put an M54B30 in an E36... I love a project, and the E39 is pretty much finished... And I think, no matter how cool the E39 gets, I'm always going to prefer the looks of the E31.
  7. Gotta take the interior out to do that... And still want an 8er.
  8. Don't want to Scott, but probably can't afford the 8er I'm after without selling it. Here you go: http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/49341-eoi-m62-vf-supercharger-kit/?p=532241
  9. My mechanic very kindly loaned me the use of a hoist yesterday (and some expert help). Replaced front lower control arms and rear crankshaft seal. 4.5 hours for both... No leaks no creaks! BOOM!! Very happy with that (would have taken me twice as long more to do on my own). Bad pics... Oily hands and smartphones don't work too well together: EDIT: Should have added the car feels fantastic post-surgery... Major second thoughts about replacing with an 8er.
  10. Yep $12k and they come with a free car.
  11. Didn't realise your new job was as a hairdresser, Mike?!
  12. How about a supercharged E39 540?
  13. Right... Need this gone, so Bimmersporters can grab it this week only for a flat $12K and the supercharger for $4.75K or both for $16K. Will leave me well out of pocket but need to move quickly if I'm going to land the E31 I want.
  14. Start with a simpler strut brace front and rear - something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/933-motorsport-BMW-3-series-E36-front-and-rear-strut-bar-brace-kit-320-325-328-/301123117888?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Plat_Gen%3AE36&hash=item461c562340 If you notice a difference think about investing in something tougher as per Dave's pic above. The front one I fitted in my E39 did nothing noticeable as far as handling goes but did eliminate a lot of the creaks and flex noises in the cabin.
  15. Pics would help? If it had no caps it may not be possible to fit them.
  16. My BBS RSIIs had very worn BBS caps when I bought them. Wanted BMW caps but couldn't find any to fit the 80mm space. Basically the original was a curved aluminium sticker on a plastic cap. Hunted around for ages and eventually found a seller on eBay who sold OE aluminium stickers (I think the 79mm ones I picked up were for an old 2002 but fitted perfectly on the BBS plastic cap). Can you photograph the aftermarket caps and I'll see if it's possible to replace?
  17. Yep, Ron couldn't have said it better. I'm there regularly for week and always enjoy it but normal it isn't and not sure how I'd fare living there after Auckland. EDIT: for work.

    Benz E63 AMG

Detached in the sense that there is an awful lot of 'assistance' going on that the driver is unaware of... or in some cases, like stability control, the driver can be very aware of it which does lessen the experience for many drivers (not me, because I know it may save my life!).

No doubt. The more driver aids like DSC, power steering, etc the less connected to the road the driver is likely to feel but if it means people are safer on the roads and I can enjoy 550bhp in an F10 M5 without feeling like I'm going to die on every corner... I can live with it.

Certainly the F10 and the E60 (to a degree) M5s feel more detached than the E39.... Which is the impact of technology. Without some of that technology an awful lot of drivers (me included) would probably struggle to not crash. I guess they are victims of the market... Which is made up of mostly non-enthusiasts who simply want the status of the fastest, safest, most luxurious, comfortable and expensive model. The F10 is incredibly quick but you never feel out of control (with the traction control on).
  21. 500+ bhp. Might need some better brakes!
  22. The short answer is yes... But I doubt any of the M62 mounts and pipework would fit, so you'd need to custom build a lot of it. Probably cheaper and easier to buy a VF S62 kit.

Ask Ray at HellBM. Has always been on my wish list. That said, the Dinan trans s/w I have makes the slush box a lot more fun!
