  1. If you want the VF tune, yes. The PO said it was pretty average and recommended a custom tune. I would have installed in my 540 already but was waiting for hi velocity to reopen.
  2. That is admirable and most who know me on here will tell you I'm a stickler for detailing but 10-12 hours? I could probably earn enough in 10-12 hours to pay a pro 2-3 times over. I enjoy the sense of satisfaction of a job well done but think I would rather spend 10-12 hours driving it than polishing it! That said, I think your improvements so far are well considered.
  3. Yep, there is a very common fault... Lots of stuff on how to fix online: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e39-m5-e52-z8-discussion/159724-complete-diy-twisted-seat-repair.html
  4. I like this colour too and have seen this car for sale before.
  5. I'll clear out my shed for you if you get stuck, Darren.
  6. Didn't correct me on the model number either. Hope he responds to my follow up comment
  7. I got a response.... He'll hopefully shoot some video so I can check out whether the idle is rough enough. Phew.

If you get your asking price I have something newer with a/c for sale... And you'll have change (for the extra fuel it's going to use up!): http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=728465250
  9. Disagree. I think black grill only looks good on white, red or black cars. Chrome suits blue far better IMO. Black window trim looks pretty good on any colour if you're not a fan of the chrome... You can wrap it for $50 and a couple of hours of your time (compared to $1-2K for genuine black shadowline trim).
  10. I've submitted a question... Awaiting response.... Waiting.... Waiting...
  11. Awesome. Hopefully I'll be an E31 owner by then... Though it may not be on the road. Would still love to come along for looksee.
  12. Specs here: http://www.beastpower.com/p/bmw/vf-engineering-supercharger/VF-BE39-540-SC-S1 Looks like this installed: I have all parts and belts (to fit an E39 540i) but am missing the pod filter - though you'd probably want a new one anyway. The charger is used but has only done around 30,000kms. MattA's done some checking and it require a fair bit of modification to fit an M60 but not impossible. It currently lives in my office: Looking for offers over $5K.
  13. Hmmmnn... I wasn't there. Was it Outside Newmarket BK? I take my lad swimming every Sat at the Olympic pools.
  14. Not sure, probably not if it has a current WOF.
  15. HellBM are the dogs' nuts but you still shoulda bought my 540!!
  16. I'm putting it out there that this M5's current (and possibly previous) owner doesn't know this.
  17. I came to the same conclusion. It's getting full inspection this weekend and hopefully my brother will pick up in the next couple of weeks (as soon as the 540 sells).
  18. But I bet you don't thrash it from cold with the wrong oil in it.
  19. Don't think that will happen though... Have been running through all the possible computations with friends and family alike (i.e. should I import the Estoril one I like, should I import the cheap non-msport high kms manual E31 I've found, should I buy James' 850 and convert/twin turbo/supercharge, and so on...) but I keep coming back to the Estoril one. Unfortunately, it's right at the top end of my budget and I may even have to sell the supercharger to get it here (though I'm hoping not). Watch this space... (actually not this one because it's the wrong thread I've hijacked, though at least I was the OP).
  20. Hopefully, Darren... But wouldn't it be nice with an S62 in it?!!
  21. I offered $15K and he told me where to stick it. haha
  22. Think you'll be hard pressed to find a warranty that will provide enough cover on a 14 year old car to replace an S62 if you throw a rod bearing.
  23. When I looked at it I mentioned to the owner that the con rod bearings appeared to be failing. I dropped him a note yesterday as I saw it still hadn't sold and he said 'Beat my time to Ahipara. Thrashed it. Con rods seem fine to me.' Guessing it's been thrashed more than once. I'd avoid it like the plague.
  24. Thought corvette initially but not in the other Euro section.
