  1. It's on the low priority list for now. But since the unit was used on a few different bmw platforms it means they're in ample supply if you look all over the globe. The Dynavin is appealing, and would modernise the car. But this M5 has a surprise lurking in the rear seat - a second MID unit.
  2. I'll need the video module and mk4 nav unit as well. The 16:9 units are getting long in the tooth so the lcd screens will need replacing soon - have researched the procedure for that and it's no fun.
  3. Well the copper who got me for speeding that same day didn't say anything... Still I need the LCM4 module to be able to turn off the annoying flickering it does for the number plate LED's and the front Halo's. I might retain the incandescent bulbs for the interior with the exception of the puddle lights - They have improved the lighting significantly. If I can get a brighter LED for the ceiling boot I'll probably stick with LED's in there too.
  4. Maintenance order placed for a few things under the bonnet. In the mean time, swapped out the incandescent interior and boot bulbs for some led's. Perhaps LED blue/white colour is not the best against a caramel coloured interior? I will also be replacing the boot ceiling light with a brighter item. Pics came out a bit shyte....
  5. I can't find any documentation that suggests the m5 monocoque is more rigid then any other e39 sedan. So long as all running gear, trims and other gadgets have been transferred over this is technically a hand built e39 m5.
  6. Still pretty good buying at that price imo. Good second hand upper oil pan's (The one I presume that is cracked, as the lower oil pan is not overly expensive) do come up on ebay.co.uk for a decent price.
  7. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-788767075.htm Very good price - Looks to have been re-shelled though which shouldn't really matter, just won't have the 'WBS,,,' chassis number making it a true M car.
  8. Only one way to ensure that lsd you bought is working properly :-)
  9. My old e39 540i (vanos model) is @ 320,000kms. Chain guides done, trans untouched.
  10. I bought a cable off ebay, scored an old laptop from work and installed inpa and dis. Does the job quite well. Our resident know it all for bmw diagnostics and coding will probably chime in soon
  11. bmwfans.info says that this mount was used in all e31 v12 cars, all e32 v12 cars, and the e52 Z8 cars.
  12. Have you got a link for where to get this, or was it a used one you scored?
  13. Looks like a very original and tidy car (the m5) i'd keep the original headlights.
  14. The Quattro and ITR are beautiful! Where are the M5 pics!?!?
  15. 1st noise sounds like an exhaust leak. If it were timing chain guide rail related you would hear the noise all the time.
  16. If the chassis rail is bent then their will be a lot of labour involved with stripping down the front of the car, measuring the frame once on a jig and pulling the rail back to spec. You're also looking at possible further damage to the front aluminium subframe. Seems like a lot of damage for a kiss in to the wall.
  17. Welcome to the forums, and congrats on purchasing one of the best BMW M cars! Pics?
  18. M5 bumper should be a straight swap, since you already had the m-tech 2 bumper your car will have the correct lower corner and under belly trims. The spot lights are the same, the mesh insert is the only difference, you will need to get an aftermarket mesh insert that has brake cooling holes in order to retain the stock cooling duct setup :
  19. The latest bull from the stable. Modified. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/lamborghini/auction-784223181.htm
  20. I paid around $1400 for a full strip and re-paint of my badly flaking wheels. The reason it's so expensive is because of the shadow chrome paint itself, and also the process... Chemical strip to bare alloy, primer, black base coat, thin layers of shadow chrome paint, then a final clear coat. The trick is getting the shadow chrome paint consistent for all wheels else you get darker/lighter wheels. My wheels before : My wheels after :
