The alternator in my old 540i which now belongs to a mate is getting a bit noisy. Anyone know an outfit in Auckland that could do a service on it? This is the water-cooled unit so will need the seal, and probably a good idea to replace the regulator also.

A mate of mine had an e30 325is ex SA. 2.7 litre parts bin special comprised of Alpina engine parts, M3 suspension and Aluminium Doors and bonnet. An absolute hoot to drive, combined with sharp handling. I wouldn't knock SA perfomance models. -

Probably part number 12 : -
That's not the rust people here are referring to. E39's usually bubble up in that area below the filler neck..

Beautiful engineering on the m70. The assembly of extensions and a uj on a ratchet get to those manifold nuts pretty easily.

Looks like NZ post deem a car airbag as a dangerous item..which is fair enough. Any one know of any other shipping companies which would handle a steering wheel complete with airbag?

I spy an e39 rear subframe used in your amazing build. Can't wait to see more progress pics.

BMW M4 Coupé from Swiss Hillclimb Championship
BreakMyWindow replied to hybrid's topic in Videos & Sound
looked like it has an aftermarket suspension setup the way it gets around those corners, or maybe the M4 suspension is just that stiff in it's 'race track' setting? Squealing brakes and good grip suggest it's also had those areas addressed too. All in all a great clip though! -
The day has come.

Usa spec but.

Sorry must've thrown it out.

The M5 maf housings are slightly smaller than the 540i ones. The actual M5 MAF sensor itself I think fits in the 540i maf housing though. I've got a good working one for an E39 540i in my garage i think - i'll check and come back to you.

I ended up watching all his engine building clips on youtube - He goes through the fundamentals pretty well. Pitty it's dinosaur technology though.
