My old e39 540i (vanos model) is @ 320,000kms. Chain guides done, trans untouched.

I bought a cable off ebay, scored an old laptop from work and installed inpa and dis. Does the job quite well. Our resident know it all for bmw diagnostics and coding will probably chime in soon

bmwfans.info says that this mount was used in all e31 v12 cars, all e32 v12 cars, and the e52 Z8 cars.
-
Have you got a link for where to get this, or was it a used one you scored?

Looks like a very original and tidy car (the m5) i'd keep the original headlights.

It cant be broken already?! (E39 M62tu Noises)
BreakMyWindow replied to keltik's topic in Maintenance
1st noise sounds like an exhaust leak. If it were timing chain guide rail related you would hear the noise all the time. -
If the chassis rail is bent then their will be a lot of labour involved with stripping down the front of the car, measuring the frame once on a jig and pulling the rail back to spec. You're also looking at possible further damage to the front aluminium subframe. Seems like a lot of damage for a kiss in to the wall.

Welcome to the forums, and congrats on purchasing one of the best BMW M cars! Pics?

M5 bumper should be a straight swap, since you already had the m-tech 2 bumper your car will have the correct lower corner and under belly trims. The spot lights are the same, the mesh insert is the only difference, you will need to get an aftermarket mesh insert that has brake cooling holes in order to retain the stock cooling duct setup :

I paid around $1400 for a full strip and re-paint of my badly flaking wheels. The reason it's so expensive is because of the shadow chrome paint itself, and also the process... Chemical strip to bare alloy, primer, black base coat, thin layers of shadow chrome paint, then a final clear coat. The trick is getting the shadow chrome paint consistent for all wheels else you get darker/lighter wheels. My wheels before : My wheels after :

Check the front chassis rails havn't been bent where they join to the bumper shocks.

Wheel cleaning, Non Acid vs. Acid, whats the diff?
BreakMyWindow replied to hunter's topic in Appearance
Acid based is not a good idea for painted wheels. Imo although it will cut off old baked on brake dust it will also strip away the paint. Wheel sealant is a good idea to make cleaning wheels easier. -
Are the rear guards from the coupe donor getting grafted on? Awesome project.

All bar the sway bar, shocks, springs and steering box.

On an engine dyno a proper running vanos 540i produces 400nm from as little as 1300rpm.... i think that will tow just fine.

.....at understeering. :-)

imo the s2000 and NSX are the 2 best Honda's ever made..... well there is also the F1 car but to stuff in a dinosaur truck engine is just plain 'Murica.

I see maybe 2 genuine e34 m5's every 5 years. Nice colour is it a 3.8 version?

This is a good move - About time dynamic speed limits were applied.

I have the Evolve-R cable, but after reading through their FAQ I don't think the cable can be used on another car once you have used the cable on a car, well not without cracking the logic applied to locking the cable to your car... http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=383037 Can I sell the tune afterwards? Unfortunately not, the evolve-R unit locks to your ECU - it can only be used on one vehicle in its life. If you move car to one we tune, we will give you $200 off the new cable/tune.
